@nickcarter I hit a new stage when I got PTSD after a traumatic time last year. I struggled to even leave the house and then tickets for the Who I Am tour for London went on sale and it gave me motivation to go out and get better so I could see you. Thank you for being an inspiration 💖
@DeGucciGang @Lillyin_London@SkyNews So you’re saying that the increase to minimum wage - and many of their employees were on it - and the NI increases, weren’t a factor and they didn’t think about how they would afford them at all? Perhaps you can explain how already struggling business can cope with the costs?
@tjer222@Sandra26451694@SkyNews@WilfredFrost What about Labour’s own research from 2017 that says 4000 elderly people will die as a result of the winter fuel allowance cuts? And this was before the cost of living and fuel poverty we have. If the Tories caused deaths, so you really think these policies won’t?
@tjer222@Sandra26451694@SkyNews@WilfredFrost But if we want to get political: what about the farmers and business owners that have been on TV crying because they’ve lost everything due to the budget? How will this affect their mental health, if cost of living already affects mental health (as evidenced by your photo).
@Keir_Starmer Are you going to say anything about Darren Jones using language that trivialised PTSD this morning and thereby trivialising the experiences of those unlucky enough to suffer from it? PTSD and stress are different. Such language around mental health should not be used by ministers
@darrenpjones I have PTSD. Today you used language that trivialised it just to score political points. I would love to sit down with you and educate you about what living with PTSD is really like and the biological and neurological changes that happen. Stress is not PTSD. PTSD is debilitating
@tjer222@Sandra26451694@SkyNews@WilfredFrost Agreed. It also doesn’t fill me with confidence that they understand mental health or the scope of the mental health crisis they’ve inherited from the previous government.
@SkyNews@darrenpjones I’m shocked that senior government figures are using mental health terminology in this way. PTSD is not stress. It’s debilitating and potentially life threatening. @MindCharity@ptsd_uk What can we do to encourage public figures to be more mindful of mental health terminology?
@Sandra26451694@tjer222@SkyNews@WilfredFrost Nightmares, OCD behaviours, tachycardia, suicidal thoughts, hyperarousal, avoidance. It was hell. And I’m a mental health professional which helped me know what I was going through. PTSD is life threatening and terrifying.
@Sandra26451694@tjer222@SkyNews@WilfredFrost I have PTSD following a house fire and my first episode of anaphylaxis a few weeks later. To hear a government minister use this language is hugely upsetting. When my PTSD came on, I was close to being hospitalised. I had flashbacks several times a day, panic attacks 1/2
@SkyNews@WilfredFrost Darren Jones throw away remark about “we’ve all got PTSD follow Liz Truss’ Budget” is a complete and utter insult to those who live with the daily consequences of really having PTSD.
@Anniepop2027@darrenpjones@SkyNews@WilfredFrost@robpowellnews Panic attacks, nightmares, intrusive thoughts, OCD behaviours, avoidance, hyperarousal, self-harm and suicidal thoughts. I was nearly hospitalised when I was hit by PTSD and still live with its affects. Government ministers should not be weaponising mental health terminology.
@Anniepop2027@darrenpjones@SkyNews@WilfredFrost@robpowellnews Ministers using language around mental health problems is no laughing matter. PTSD is a debilitating condition in which the brain gets stuck in fight and flight mode, triggering physiological changes like tachycardia. Along with mental health symptoms such as flashbacks 1/2
No @darrenpjones, we don't all have PTSD from Liz Truss.
Some people do have PTSD and it's can be an utterly debilitating, life-altering and literally nightmarish condition which deserves greater consideration than lazy stigma to make cheap political points.
@MentalHealthCop@darrenpjones Thank you so much for saying this. I’ve recently been diagnosed with PTSD and I’ve become so aware of people saying “this gave me PTSD” when actually they are talking about stress, which is nothing like PTSD. Government ministers should know better.
@AVremotes @ChickenRunChris@IRAS054372502 @AshleaSimonBF Yet in 2017, they commissioned research that predicted that 4000 deaths would occur if the WFA was scrapped. Why is it that when they were in opposition it would cause 4000 deaths, now they’re the ones to scrap it, it won’t cause any?#LabourLies
@barry_halverson@Conservatives Funny how they are calling it populism, when for the last four years they used it to create media storms around the Tories. They’re getting uncomfortable now the Alli donated shoe is on the other foot, but keep on telling yourself it’s glitter on a brand new Alli provided cuff
