In China, large groups of protestors have been gathering to demand justice for these dogs, and the overwhelming response on social media shows widespread support for animal protection statutes.
Without meaningful legal protections, animals remain dangerously vulnerable, and abusers escape punishment. This case should be a turning point. China needs strong anti-cruelty legislation to help prevent such horrific abuse and ensure that those who harm animals are held accountable.

Two dogs found stuffed in a sack with their mouths taped shut. Police in Vietnam stopped suspected dog thieves carrying electric shock devices and other tools.
The dogs survived, but millions won’t. Every year, millions of dogs and cats are killed in the dog & cat meat trade. 💔
What is wrong in your head to think you can go out and deliberately kill animals in this way 🤬🤬!
Youths armed with catapults and metal ball bearings have killed three wild birds along a canal in Kidderminster.
Catapults and ball bearings have been seized and an investigation is underway following the deaths of birds in Kidderminster.
On Thursday 4th June officers from Kidderminster Safer Neighbourhood Teams responded to a call from a member of public who had witnessed 3 youths using catapults against wild birds on the canal in Kidderminster Town Centre. On arrival officers found that two ducks and a goose had been killed. Three youths were searched at the scene and were found to have catapults and metal ball bearings on them. These were subsequently seized by the officers.
An investigation is ongoing under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
If you are evacuating your home, take your pets with you. Pets cannot fend for themselves during disasters and leaving them behind can risk both their lives and those of rescuers. Leave early and don’t wait for mandatory evacuation orders. #SorrentoFire

A man in China broke down after discovering his stolen dog had been sold and eaten.
The dog, Chutou, was not a stray.
He was an 8-year-old Border Collie with a collar, a GPS tracker, and more than 1.5 million followers online.
His owner, Guo, was travelling abroad when Chutou suddenly disappeared.
Surveillance footage reportedly showed the dog being taken.
Guo then traced what happened and found out something heartbreaking.
Chutou had allegedly been sold into the dog meat trade for around $34.
By the time his owner found out, it was already too late.
The dog had reportedly been eaten.
Guo broke down crying.
To him, Chutou was not property.
He was family.
The case has caused outrage in China, with many people pointing out that pets can still be treated mainly as property under the law, even when they are loved like children.
A dog with a name, a home, a collar, and a tracker was stolen and sold for the price of a cheap meal.
And his owner was left grieving a family member the law may not fully recognise.

Michelle Moran, 63, of Bebington, Wirral, has been banned from keeping animals for life after throwing her Jack Russell terrier Gypsy into a boating lake at Gautby Road in Birkenhead to drown.
Moran claimed she believed Gypsy had cancer and tumours and could not afford veterinary euthanasia, but none of her alleged conditions were confirmed by any veterinary diagnosis.
Gypsy's body was recovered from the lake by a member of the public on September 29 last year.
When examined, the dog weighed just 3.7 kilograms and scored two out of nine on a body condition score, indicating severe malnourishment. Her mouth and nose were bloodied.
Veterinary evidence confirmed the surrounding concrete wall would have made it almost impossible for a small or weakened dog to escape the water.
Moran pleaded guilty to two offences under the Animal Welfare Act and received a 17-week suspended sentence, a lifetime animal ban, a curfew, and rehabilitation requirements. The RSPCA described Gypsy's death as horrendous and called Moran's actions extremely callous.
A group of men lured a community dog with food and then took the dog away in a vehicle.
The vehicle registration appears to be ASO9A1776 based on available footage. Requesting @assampolice to act swiftly and arrest these individuals. A dog's life is in danger.
😡 ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL 😡
Today at Mitchelstown Market, dogs were reportedly being offered for sale for €200 each while sitting in a crate for hours, with concerns raised that they had no access to water. Witnesses say the matter was reported to the Gardaí.
So cruel and horrible 😡😡. Animals are living, feeling beings, not products to be left suffering in cages while people walk past.
We need answers. What happened to these dogs? Were they checked on? Were any animal welfare authorities contacted?
If anyone has reliable information or an update on the welfare of these dogs, please pm us. These poor dogs deserve protection.
Enough is enough. Animal welfare must be taken seriously.
