❗️BREAKING NEWS❗️
Pilgrim’s UK has announced in headlines that they are SHUTTING DOWN their Ashton site. The closure comes, following our UK first investigation exposing their gas chamber, released 2nd May in The Guardian. In the article Pilgrim's reps claimed, that there wasn’t enough evidence to show it was their site. But I have all the evidence IT IS in fact their site.

Timeline:
-The announcement comes just 2 weeks after our exposè. Across social media the footage accumulated 2 million views in the first week.
-2 days after the investigation's release, Mark Haighton, Pilgrim's pig supply chain director, was either let go, or quit, in what is understood to have been a 'sudden development.’ The timing of this is notable.
-2 days after that, we held a protest at Pilgrim's Ashton. The security guards denied the footage was from their gas chamber, this echoed the comments of Pilgrim's Reps. Pilgrim’s head office know that my film with further details is coming soon, and that it will cause further backlash.
- Pilgrim's is claiming the decision to close is due to the pig sector facing "significant challenges” but also stated that because Ashton is in a suburban area, they’d have no way to “grow the site." Not sure why they’d want to expand Ashton site anyway, when the pig sector is facing these ‘difficult challenges’? This is contradictory, and in my opinion, there were other factors at play.
-Around 750k pigs are gassed each year at Pilgrim's Ashton, they claim they plan to move some operations to there other 2 gas chambers, but how can they maintain the same numbers? Their production will surely decrease substantially because of this closure.

Although there have been talks of slowing production at Ashton for a while, I don’t think I’d call their recent announcement a coincidence, all things considered. I think pressure, and extremely bad PR from the viral gas chamber footage, coupled with the upcoming release of my film ‘Pignorant’, was the final thing to push them over the edge. Of course the industry would never admit that our investigation influenced their decision - but you be the judge!
