#AngelaCarini is a hero and a winner, and a role model for women athletes. The sporting world can be very proud of this woman for her bravery in standing up for safety and fairness in women’s sport. #WeStandWithAngelaCarini#Olympics A champion for women’s sports.
What I saw.
A woman getting hit SO hard, in the head, by a man, that she wisely chose to stop it, because she KNEW if she didn’t, she’d be seriously injured or worse.
Blood, sweat, tears, training, dreams…shattered….
The ABSOLUTE STATE of this…@iocmedia
Angela Carini. 💔❤️
I love boxing. It’s been one of the biggest parts of my life since I first put on a pair of gloves at 3 years old.
I would rather see my sport banned than see this again.
@ioc, you are a fucking disgrace.
Far too many women have been on the receiving end of harassment, abuse and violence for far too long.
With violence against women and girls declared a ‘National Emergency’, we need our male allies to stand up and call out troubling behaviour when they see it.

“The charity really has been a lifeline for us as a family with the support we have received over the years”.
Your donation can make a difference to the support we can give to a child or young person who has either lost a parent or lost family income.

The number of officers donating is falling and the need for our assistance is increasing.
A small donation of just 20p a week could help to safeguard the future of your children or the children of a colleague.

Thinking tonight about when Emily first went to that residential specialist school at 14 years old & they wouldn’t let us see her for 12 weeks so that she could “acclimatise”. The writing really was on the wall but we were just parents & they were the “experts”.
I try and put that (& the regular prone restraint they subjected her to) out of my mind but these memories drop in when you’re least prepared. It really is shameful how learning disabled people children & adults, men & women are treated and the pain that inflicts on a whole family. Accountability is thin on the ground too.
More than anything I wonder what she thought.
She’s been out of there for 8 years now after they expelled her because I found out about the prone restraint & told them to stop doing it.
With nothing in place for her, no care package, no house, no benefits they expelled her and the “logical” next step was a psychiatric hospital.
Not because she was ill but because she fought back against the prone restraint & they deemed her violent. It was a fight that nearly broke me to keep her free. A long involved fight that was really a race against time because I knew if they put her in she’d never get out. Yet we did it.
We found the care provider, the property & sorted her benefits & once the prone restraint stopped, the behaviours of distress did too. It took a long time for her to stop putting herself on the floor face down when she got upset though. Still now she fears losing her little house and being sent back.
I hate these memories. I hate what was done to her and I hate that I couldn’t keep her safe.
More than anything though I hate that the system protects itself above all else & learning disabled women like Emily are just collateral damage

Men who filmed 6000 people using bathrooms and swimming pool changing rooms jailed. But it wasn’t ’people’ was it, it was women and girls. https://t.co/C2ZVmnr4Qs
@greenekingcares big well done to Jamie, he’s returned The Robin Hood in Bognor into a place where people want to eat and drink after 3 pretty dismal years. A good manager makes such a difference. Thanks Jamie
