"All my experiences with capitalism, I'm afraid, have indicated that it encourages some of the worst features in people. Eat or be eaten….I can't buy that. I mean, maybe it's the awful face of capitalism, but I haven't seen the other face." - Desmond Tutu
@wheelychrisgirl@Edd13Moore@Plymouth_Live@Matthew_Gilley No,there needs to be a national outcry. This case &every case like it should never be forgotten &be used to bring about vital change in the education of boys &men. Our justice system is incapable of achieving such change as it does not seek to educate, nor does it act as a deterrent
@ParsMike24 @DominiqueTaegon We’ve had three this year to my knowledge, probably more that don’t get national coverage, then the fucker who killed his gf, her kids and a little friend on a sleepover. Oh, and raping the 11yo daughter 1st. Hardly rare
@Jamaica658 Where did you get these lies from? There was no physical evidence linking him to the crime, just an eye witness who tried to recant her statement several times before she died in 2015. He is fully innocent.
@codeysharp@jeremycorbyn Are you suggesting I’m lying? Even with grants, the majority of my fellow Cambridge students (1982-85) were from moneyed backgrounds. Student loans further dissuaded poorer students. That’s why they’ve started access courses, Stormzy’s set up bursaries, etc.I have no reason to lie
@codeysharp@jeremycorbyn I will treat this as a serious question although I cannot believe you can’t work out the answer yourself. It is because my parents couldn’t afford to pay the university fees, let alone my living expenses. They were thousands of pounds even back in the 1980s.
@codeysharp@jeremycorbyn Why? I agree with Jeremy Corbyn. I lived on a council estate. Without a student grant, I would never have been able to study law at Cambridge. Why do you think people with rich parents should have the opportunity to get ahead while people like me should not?
@BarryJane44@Rachael51454541@BBCNWT True, but the point remains that it’s progressed to a new level. Back in the day, a teenage boy would’ve felt deep peer-shame at even getting into a fight with a girl. That these 4 killed her in a verbal fight is indication that boys’ attitudes to girls is getting worse
@BBCNWT When did teenage boys go from trying to get off with any girl that would have them to seeing them as legitimate targets for stabbing street fights? Say what you like about the sexist 70s, but most non-rapist boys would’ve felt peer shame at even getting into a fight with a girl.
@codeysharp@jeremycorbyn So education only for the moneyed privileged?! How quaint- like a return to Victorian times. I would advocate cutting some nonsense courses introduced in recent years but it benefits us all for everyone with intellectual ability to have the chance to develop that gift further.
@Cummingth@salslovespink@Obsolesence I disagree- it would publicly acknowledge there are many female directors and give them visibility. Much like the 1st female only college which paved the way for women to get degrees, something we now take for granted.
@Zangief_Fighter @AlanHenry2018 @RaggedTP A bigot is a defined term- look it up in the OED. I am not calling you names. I am saying your views indicate that you fall within that clearly defined term.
Honestly if we're not up in arms and screaming from the rooftops about a teenage girl being taken from a bus stop at 6 in the evening and murdered, then what is the point of our feminism?
Why is Bobbi-Anne McLeod not trending with thousands of voices of outrage & grief? Why?
More people need to be talking about Bobbi Anne Mcleod. Literally an 18 year old girl waiting a bus stop to meet friend and she’s been murdered. How is this not national news? It’s not fucking right.
