🚨 STOLEN GOATS – HEARTBREAKING THEFT IN RAINHAM, EAST LONDON 🚨
Two much‑loved Golden Guernsey goats — Maggie and Maple — were snatched overnight from Peel Stable, Mereborough Road, #rainham, sometime between 9pm Saturday 18 July and 7.30am Sunday 19 July.
A 40–50cm hole was cut through the barbed‑wire fence, then tied back to hide it.
Someone chased these goats around their field, dragged them through that hole, and took them.
Maple suffers from serious seizures and has only just finished medication. Without the right care, she is at real risk.
Their owner is devastated.
The goats were bottle‑fed from 10 weeks old, raised alongside the family’s horses, pony, ducks, chickens, cats, dogs — they are family, not livestock.
If you live near Mereborough Road, Rainham, check your CCTV, Ring doorbells, dashcams, or anything that might show suspicious activity between 9pm Saturday and 7.30am Sunday.
A £1,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to their safe return.

Earlier this month, staff at Buttercups Sanctuary for Goats told local paper KentOnline how they had been left heartbroken after Taco the goat was stolen overnight.
CCTV showed four men stealing him from the site in Boughton Monchelsea, near Maidstone, on July 4.
Seven baby goats were also stolen from their pen at Christmas Tree Farm in Cudham Road, Downe, on June 23. The animals were about four to five weeks old at the time.

Watch this mother Hedgehog and her baby drink from a simple bowl of water. Now imagine a summer without it.
We've paved, fenced and tidied our gardens until there's nowhere left for the small lives that used to share them. No gaps to pass through. No shelter. And on a hot day, not a single drop to drink.

Your garden can flip from problem to solution faster than almost anything else you own. Put out a shallow bowl of water with a stone in it so nothing drowns.
Cut a Hedgehog-sized hole in the fence. Let a corner grow wild. Plant native flowers and a few berrying shrubs.
They may be a mall acts, but multiply them across a street, a neighbourhood, a country, and you've built a living network no nature reserve could match.

It stuns me that we let farmers confine 20K sentient pigs inside a single factory farm—just imagine their terror at burning alive inside a miserable warehouse. Please take a look at your food choices and consider opting out of this system.

Most people throw away the one thing that can grow an entirely new blueberry bush.
That tiny blueberry in your fridge contains dozens of seeds that can become a fruit-producing plant with a little patience.
Here's how:
Mash a ripe blueberry in a small glass with water, separate the tiny seeds, plant them in moist acidic potting soil, lightly cover them, then place a clear plastic bag over the pot to create a mini greenhouse. Keep it warm and bright, and you may see seedlings begin to emerge within a couple of weeks.
Blueberries love acidic soil, consistent moisture (not soggy roots), and at least 6 hours of sun each day.
One important reality check: growing from seed is a long game. It can take 3–4 years or longer before you harvest a meaningful crop, and because blueberries don't grow true to seed, the fruit may not be identical to the berry you started with.
If you enjoy gardening, though, there's something incredibly satisfying about turning a single piece of fruit into a thriving bush that could produce blueberries for years to come.
Sometimes the most rewarding garden projects don't begin at the nursery... they begin in your kitchen.
As Britain swelters through another heatwave, few people will have heard that ministers have quietly dropped plans for solar carports.
Cars cooler in summer. Shelter from the rain in winter. Clean electricity all year round.
A missed opportunity?

🚨 LINK IN BIO TO SIGN THE PETITION TO END ICELAND’S COMMERCIAL WHALING. 🚨
Meet millionaire whaling magnate Kristján Loftsson: the last person in the world still commercially hunting fin whales. When whale watchers encounter his vessels towing dead whales, his response is: “Just tell them to look somewhere else. They can just turn around and look the other way.”
Loftsson’s company Hvalur kills fin whales using explosive-tipped harpoons designed to detonate inside the animal’s body. 💔🐋 When asked what happens if the first shot doesn’t kill the whale, Loftsson compared it to big game hunting, explaining that sometimes a second shot is needed. Describing a whale’s final moments, he said they “give a few jerks, and then they just sink.”
His company also sparked international outrage in 2018 after killing what experts initially identified as a protected blue whale.
Fin whales are the second-largest animals on Earth and are listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List. Iceland continues to permit commercial whaling, but the practice is opposed by much of the international community.
Meanwhile, whale watching contributes significantly more to Iceland’s economy than commercial whaling.
THE WORLD IS WATCHING. THIS MUST STOP!
🐋 Join more than 178,000 people calling on Iceland to end commercial whaling by signing the petition (link in bio). Then contact Iceland’s leaders and let them know commercial whaling has no place in the 21st century.

Hello dear friends on the wibbly wobbly social web. I'm looking for jobs in restoration ecology after a Masters - any leads or tips welcome! 🌿
Particularly interested in rewilding and based in Europe, open to remote/relocation 🕵🏼♂️
Boosts very welcome 💚
Lobsters aren’t “seafood.” They build homes under rocks, explore their surroundings, remember territories, and can live for decades in the wild. Some even form social hierarchies and avoid places where they’ve previously been harmed. 🦞
Science increasingly shows that lobsters are sentient animals capable of pain and stress - which makes what happens to them even harder to ignore. 😓
They’re pulled from the ocean, crowded into tanks, restrained with rubber bands so they can’t defend themselves or behave naturally, and often kept for days or weeks in conditions nothing like their real habitat. Then many are boiled or steamed alive. 😖
They can “survive” out of water for surprising periods, but surviving doesn’t mean they’re comfortable. Extreme temperatures, crowing and human handling causes them extreme distress. 😔
A lobster trying to escape a boiling pot or struggling in a tank isn’t “just reflex.” Evidence now shows that these animals experience suffering in ways we’ve underestimated for a long time. 💔
They deserve their ocean home, not a cramped tank and a violent ending, for someone’s dinner. 🙏

Sage has not been seen since. Please contact asap if sighted/any information #stolendoghour
Bred to death.
This shocking image shows a dead female pheasant inside a colony cage. One of countless birds trapped in the industrial factory farming system that breeds tens of millions of pheasants every year, only to be shot for “sport.”
It’s set to reach 34C+ across Europe with sweltering temperatures
Record breaking conditions will add stress to animals, plants & insects
Pls spare a thought for our fellow species be they domestic, farmed or wild
Don’t travel with dogs or walk in heat, put out water, top up ponds, put out food, ditch disposable BBQs etc 🙏
Let’s be absolutely clear about the queues at Dover, Eurotunnel and airports – this is happening because of Brexit. ‘We’ voted for it. This is NOT the EU’s fault.
