If Keir Starmer had said before the election that he would remove the winter fuel allowance from millions of pensioners, give away £millions of money to overseas net zero and farming projects while hammering UK family farmers with inheritance tax, council tax & energy price increases, raise university tuition fees, plaster mass-scale solar panels on thousands of acres of prime farmland despite huge local community objections, spaff £22bn of taxpayers’ money on carbon capture machines, give £3bn a year of taxpayers’ money to Ukraine and ratchet up hawkish warmongering rhetoric, pledge a 20% cut in meat & dairy and get exposed for receiving over £100,000 worth of freebies - he almost certainly wouldn’t have won. He duped the electorate. An utterly shameless display of snake oil political salesmanship. And still he lectures all of us in that gratingly sanctimonious manner of his like we are all somehow the problem here.

The German Self-Determination Act establishes ‘gender identity’ as a protected characteristic and allows parents to change the sex marker on their children’s documents from birth.

It also allows individuals to change their sex marker annually, on demand, and permits fines of up to €10,000 for revealing a person’s given name and birth sex without their permission – ie ‘deadnaming.’

You cannot tax your way to prosperity:
To achieve growth working people need to keep more of the money they earn to spend into the economy, it's straightforward - if people spend more money businesses grow increasing tax revenues.

Tax rates are not tax revenues:
The simple fact is that a huge majority of the highest paying jobs in first world economies are now 'portable'. If there are better (lower tax) options out there people will take them, particularly the young educated. The real value is not in the salaries they earn and subsequently taxes they pay, it is between their ears. The UK loses that en-mass, it loses the dynamism and ability to generate large tax revenues.
What's more the very rich have so many tax loopholes available to them , it's a no brainer to make 'tax efficient choices'. There are huge sections in all of the 'big four' accountancy firms in the city whose entire purpose is to help the very rich (and huge corporations) pay as little tax as possible. They tie HMRC up in legal knots so that pursuing them would be beyond HMRC's budget.
And that is without talking about the apparently tiny profit made by Apple, Amazon, Starbucks, Google etc in the UK and tiny taxes paid by them. Amazon paid tax for the first time since 2020 this year - £18.7m tax on £27bn sales (are you f-king kidding me ?), in their third largest market behind US and Germany.

The only people who actually end up paying more taxes are the middle and lower classes, we get hammered.

Lastly, cutting spending is imperative and the most effective quick fix would be to cut immigration to virtually zero. For the last two decades we have been told that immigration was great for the economy - and high skilled immigration is. However that is not what we are getting. Recent data showed that of the c. 3m new people that took up residency in the UK over the last 4 years fully 85% were low skilled or un-skilled and required at partial benefits. This is madness, these are just more mouths to feed for a population who are paying the highest taxes since the 1940's - except they are not paying for a world war.
