Authors: Thought for today. - Forget grammar and plot for now.
The most important lesson to learn as an author is that humans are hard-wired to want to know the answer to any question ,and they'll stick around for the answer. Do you agree?
@tonyhenandez790 Spy thriller
Dr Lin Chi Ming paused at the changing room entrance at work and gripped the door handle, while wondering if his life would have been better if he’d not moved to the US. More so, as the decision to move there permanently hadn’t really been an option he could avoid.
@SurtseyAna Having thought about the math you propose, Tell if 'i'm wrong, but are you talking multiple POV chapters with character's having their own goals, but with an overall MC plot? If so, the individual characters would fall within the 7 plot scenarios somewhere, with 1 overall plot.
Don't get hung up on creating an original plot, because there isn't one. It's about how interesting your characters are within a time-tested plot. Do you agree?
@SurtseyAna An example of a closed environment plot would be The Handmaid's tale with the main character seeking to escape oppression. As for the going over the horizon, any hero's journey with a goal.
@SurtseyAna Hmm, thinking. Try Lee Child's idea of 2 plots. One you are in a closed environment, and face adversity to overcomer, and the other you venture over the horizon with a goal to be net with conflict. It doesn't matter how many diff't characters and conflicts. The goal is the plot
@SurtseyAna@CollingsMaccrae@DanNEO_SS Your reaction is the correct one, though when stated in reviews on Amazon and they mark you down with stars it can hurt. I had an MC who started out life as pathetic and now laugh when the odd review mentions it as his character arc resolves this
@progresswings@i_MubiKhan Is romance overused, you ask. Not really when you consider that in today's market, women dominate both as readers and authors. Same with agents and publisher purchasing editors. The publishing industry is a woman's dominated world just now.
@SurtseyAna It's against Amazon's terms & conditions to pay for reviews other than recognized editorial reviews. Be careful, you risk having your KDP account shut down
Authors querying. Choose your comp titles carefully. According to book publisher Macmillan's CEO, they determine the amount of advance in attempting to project likely sales from experience of how the comps performed.
@gemmaEdenham@king_reinhardt The synopsis only becomes easy if you write it before you start authoring the book. Only then will you know for certain if your story idea has legs.
@SurtseyAna So if I enter your garden behind your back and pitch a tent and set up a camp stove, you'd take me to court to have me removed? Or worse, you're in your bedroom, and someone enters your home and refuses to leave, you'd apply to the courts to have them removed?
