- Most women visited 2-3 hospitals before they were admitted.
- Some women visited more than five facilities, going back and forth between govt and pvt hospitals before finally being admitted.
- 27 articles reported deaths - 16 fetal deaths & 16 maternal deaths.

What we found?

Pathways for 49 women seeking institutional care.

- 17 women delivered at home/roadside/outside the hospital/in transit.
- 32 women delivered at a hospital (19 govt &13 pvt)
- Only 1/3rd of the women were provided care at the first facility they visited.

What we did?

- Searched news articles describing challenges of pregnant women in seeking institutional care.
- Time period - 25th March - 31st May, 2020
- Conducted content analysis of these news articles
- 54 news articles - 31 English, 23 Hindi
- News reports from 17 states
