One of my PhD research works is fresh out of the press, #ACSnano! It was a very rewarding project, and big shout out to my amazing colleagues and collaborators!
So here it is- ~expand~ your knowledge about glycans in stem cells! #glycotime, #stemcells, #neurons
Surprising finding that the function of heparan sulfate, a polysaccharide critical for human development, depends not only on sequence but also localization @DeenaMahbuba with @eboyden3 and Linhardt group from @MIT@RPI in @acsnano#glycotime https://t.co/ez8QnRe6I2
🔬 Congratulations to Dr. @DeenaMahbuba and her colleagues in the @KiesslingGroup on their @ACSNano paper!
The study highlights the significance of proteoglycans in #StemCell development.

Using expansion microscopy 🔬, Dr. Laura Kiessling and team at @MIT found striking changes in heparan sulfate nanostructure occur as hPS cells differentiate, and these changes correlate with growth factor signaling.

Introducing Dr. @vicmarando!🎊Her PhD on mycobacterial cell wall labelling strategies thru biosynthetic incorporation launched many successful applications, collaborations, & new projects. We can't wait to see her excel in her postdoc @harvardmed w Suzanne Walker. Congrats!🎉
Did you know that Harvard has free Resume, CV and Cover Letter resources - including action verbs, templates and samples?
I've compiled a list of them -
Every year I read a lot of grad school applications from accomplished people that don't give me the info I'm looking for. It feels like a major hidden curriculum thing. So here's (my opinion on) how to write a great Statement of Purpose/Research for a PhD program. 🧵 1/
Thrilled to see click chemistry recognized for its huge impact on chemical biology. From the whole group, a big congratulations to our friends in the @CarolynBertozzi group as well as Barry Sharpless and Morten Meldal's groups. Well deserved! #ChemNobel#glycotime
After building embryoids for 10 years, we succeeded in generating structures with brains, hearts, neural tubes, somites with a yolk sac. Both original submissions using two different approaches are on BioRxiv, to be published soon. https://t.co/p1ZL2C3UPH
Mohammad Murshid Alam defended at the start of 2020, our last in person defense for 2 years (though we didn't know that then). He made major contributions to our immunology project. Murshid is working locally, and is still a valuable resource for trainees in the group.
Happy commencement day to all 2022 @ChemistryMIT PhDs! @DeenaMahbuba received her hood today and some 2020 and 2021 Kiessling alumni returned for a well deserved celebration (and photo op with @ChemicalBiology). Pictured: LLK, Deena (2022), Cassie (2020), and Murshid (2020)
Massive congrats to Deena for defending her thesis! Deena is the definition of resilience and grace, and we are so lucky to have her in the department. Deena was featured in the last edition of the WIC+ newsletter, which you can read here: https://t.co/KFWbmRFMXL.
