Here’s my take on the Raptors moves…

I think the DeMar DeRozan deal weighed so heavily on Masai Ujiri that he hedged on moving Pascal and Fred and O.G. – it cost him - and I don’t mind it.

When you build a culture based on hard work, dedication and sacrifice…you need to be careful with how you treat it.

Fred and Pascal and Nick Nurse…thought they could make something of last season…and Masai bought in and went and got them Poeltl. It didn’t work.

Fred moves on, gets his bag.
Nick moves on to a pretty good landing spot. OG too.
And now Pascal moves on…and will get his bag.

Masai did as right by these guys as you can do in pro sports and he paid for it in the picks for Poeltl, Jakob’s deal and whatever more you could have got for Fred, Pascal and OG had you traded them earlier.

I’m ok with it…because those guys helped win you a championship and set the tone for a franchise that exceeded expectations year after year.

Many things can be true. It cost them. The respect paid cost them…and sometimes that stuff can pay dividends down the road when guys in the league talk about their experiences. Sometimes it doesn’t mean a thing.

I’m good with the attempt. I wonder how many other Raptors fans are too?
