The demand for a 5 Day Work Week in banks is not new. It already stands agreed upon in the Bipartite Settlement of March 2024. What remains is its long-pending implementation.

At the same time, the unilateral and discriminatory PLI system must be abolished and replaced with a fair, transparent and inclusive framework for all employees, recognising the collective effort behind every institution’s performance.

Hardworking bank employees are not asking for privilege. They are asking for implementation of an agreement and equality in reward.

A motivated banking workforce strengthens Indian banking and the nation.

Understanding IMF's forecast. Growth of 11.5% in '21, after -8% in '20 means 3.5% over 2 years, which is roughly 1.75% annual growth. India needs to do better. IMF's forecast for China is roughly 5.2%. Nationalism that makes us ignore national data is a disservice to the nation.

India’s growth has collapsed from over +10% in 2010 to around -10% in 2020. This is so rare, observers worldwide are puzzled. My hypothesis: There’s evidence that growth depends on not just economic policy but on trust in society. The rise of divisiveness & hate is eroding trust.
