Allahu Akbar 🚀the verse the Iranians chose in-front of the Saudi delegation at Shaheed Sayed Ali’s funeral is a kill shot 🚀🚀 It was beyond cinematic and will be remembered as a story of great legend.
what people don't understand about electronics is that YOU! YOU PERSONALLY! can build this shit given enough time. the parts inside have DATASHEETS you can READ with your EYEBALLS. you can UNDERSTAND all of the components inside of this thing. YOU CAN!
The video with @schoolofhardknocks is out and it’s gone viral. None of it was planned. I invited James to the Aruwa office to meet him and learn how he’s built his business. We took a picture, he left but then: he came back and wanted to film. Tomorrow morning.
Before Dario Amodei built the company shipping all five of these models, he was a physicist recording the electrical activity of living neurons. His PhD is in biophysics, and his thesis was about measuring how brains compute.
He took a strange path into AI. A bachelor's in physics from Stanford, then a Princeton PhD spent building devices to read the firing of neurons. A postdoc at Stanford's medical school working on cancer markers. Then in 2014 he joined Andrew Ng's AI group at Baidu, moved to Google Brain, and landed at OpenAI, where he led the teams that built GPT-2 and GPT-3.
That is where the bet started. Each time his team made a language model bigger and fed it more data, it got sharply better at things nobody had trained it to do. He became convinced that intelligence scales the way an engine scales with fuel: add more computing power and more data, and its abilities climb in a predictable way. Most of the field thought you needed clever new ideas. He thought you mostly needed scale.
In late 2020 he left OpenAI with his sister Daniela and a group of colleagues, over a breakdown in trust about how to handle safety. They started Anthropic in early 2021 with no product and no revenue.
Five years later, the curve he bet on is showing up in the ledger. The company made roughly $10 billion in revenue in 2025. By May 2026 it was earning at a pace of $47 billion a year, almost five times higher in twelve months. Its valuation climbed from $61 billion in early 2025 to $965 billion by late May, passing OpenAI to become the highest-valued AI company in the world. Days later, it filed to go public.
Five new models in roughly six months are what that bet looks like once it starts paying off and you keep pushing. A man who spent his twenties measuring how living neurons fire decided you could manufacture the thing they do, then built a company to prove it.
On this day in history, 15 years ago, the price of a bitcoin crashed from $17 down to literally $0.01 per coin in a matter of minutes.
A hacker gained access to the Mt.Gox exchange website database and placed massive fake sell orders. This YouTuber streamed it happening live:
Someone built a fitness app using the same psychological mechanics as gambling
This might work better than every normal fitness app 😭😭
You bet money on whether you’ll hit 10,000 steps today
If you fail, you lose your money
If you succeed, you split the money from everyone who didn’t
So disciplined people literally profit off lazy people
Most fitness apps try motivating you with streaks and notifications
This one motivates you with financial fear
Imagine realizing at 11:52pm you still need 1,700 more steps or you lose $30
Entire friend groups would be outside walking laps around their neighborhood before midnight trying not to lose their steppa challenge
It sounds stupid but this would probably motivate people better than any other fitness product
Would you use this yourself?
I had dinner once with a top physicist and a top computer scientist and asked what they thought the probability was that we were in a simulation.
They answered simultaneously at 0% and 100% respectively. It was like a double-slit experiment, but with humans.
Studying Artificial Intelligence in China 🇨🇳 has taught me many technical things.
But one life lesson stands out:
The right mentor can accelerate your growth and help you become the person you were meant to be.
