CTW10 @ktkelly14 #EDU331 I love the idea of a think-write. This idea can easily connect to a KWL chart so that you can see what the students already know, want to learn, and learned in the end. This strategy also allows for all the students to share and not feel pressured.
CTW6 @ktkelly14 #EDU331 It is crazy to think that we have over 50,000 vocabulary words in our pocket. While the traditional way of teaching vocab will never die, I loved the idea of dramatizations of the words. While it is fun, the students can interact with the word itself!
STW14 @ktkelly14 #EDU331 The inquiry framework (immerse, investigate, coalesce, and take public) feels so natural. It only makes sense to incorporate this into the classroom as well. The take public part is the most important part because you have to share to make a difference.
STW13 @ktkelly14 #EDU331 I loved this chapter about content literacy! As tornadoes recently struck the south, I loved the idea of creating a “wall of storms” in the classroom to showcase what tornadoes look like and do. It would be interesting to see a wall based on a hurricane!
Q2. One way my current classroom creates spaces is by literally doing so! One of the students is a talented poet and so we made him his own poetry space so he can escape and write when need be. #G2Great
One way that reading inspires my students is by truly being able to immerse into a different world in a book. It allows a place to retreat away from the craziness of the world. #G2Great
A4: Yesterday, I watched one of my students compose his own story the way he wanted it. He talked to me about what should come next. No prompt, just him. His story was all that he wanted it to be. I hope to create a classroom where this is the reality #preservicelit#EDU331
#preservicelit#edu331We can help students explore their own ideas by writing about what they want to write about, not a prompt. It is important for the students to gain their own voice. it is also important for them to read to learn what other people think.
#edu331#Preservicelit Q3 diversity and inclusivity are super important. This past week I did a book talk in @ktkelly14 classroom on The One and Only Ivan. This book was amazing and talked about inclusivity but also being an individual!
#preservicelit#edu331 Having a culturally diverse library is very important. My favorite books are any of the Malala books but especially Malala's Magic Pencil. It shows love and diversity in an education setting.
#preservicelit#edue331 It is not easy to ensure a well- stocked classroom library but it is important to gain one. Once i have my first classroom I plan on going to garage sales, library sales, and asking my church for books.
