I have a few spaces left on my sell-out bird illustration & mental health workshop this coming Saturday.
I'll teach you:
🪶How to break down bird forms into simple shapes, add plumage, details & shading
🖋️How creative activity alters our brain biochemistry

Stuff I did “wrong” as an Autistic kid:
- Playing by myself. I didn’t realise that invitations to play required me to play with others.
- Gravitating towards adults instead of kids. Adults were (generally) calmer, more welcoming, more mature and more on my wavelength.
I’d love to go back to 1987 and tell all my Smiths fan friends who gave me all kinds of shit for not being a Smiths fan that by the 2020s not only would Morrissey have been cast into outer darkness as a bitter old racist, but Rick Astley would be the coolest motherfucker alive
But, autism and autistic people are diverse, and it’s natural that our interests reflect that. I hope that one day society will realise how diverse we and our interests are. But, that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate both of these things now. What are your special interests? ☺️⬇️
A lot of these special interests receive less attention because they’re seen as “feminine” and we typically hear about autism from a “masculine” perspective, or because they’re considered “social”, “intelligent”, “cultured” or “creative”, things many believe autists “can’t” be.
Common autistic special interests that aren’t spoken about enough: pop culture, music, psychology, sociology, animals (especially cats and horses), Barbie, The Sims, reading, Old Hollywood, eras in time, true crime, fashion, Eurovision, writing, K-drama, politics, makeup and art.
My name is Emma Dalmayne, I am a mother of 6, five of whom are autistic. I have started this petition to demand that Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) provide support for autistic children with mental health issues. My son was turned away despite being suicidal+
In Kings Cross. The only people wearing ties are teenagers in school uniform. Google employees striding in in shorts and vests. Why do we make kids perform this ridiculous, sweaty cosplay? It serves no purpose and prepares them for nothing.
Glow first aired on @netflix 6 years ago today! 💘 Personally I think Season 4 (that’s already written, costumes made & 2 episodes shot) should be brought back & finished. That’s just me tho 😜⚡️
Hey @Foyles, stocking a book that presents autism as something which is 1. Caused by vaccination (disproved, repeatedly) and 2. Is an epidemic that needs curing IN THE AUTISM SELF-HELP style section is a very bad look. This is the second time this has happened.
