Customs officials at IGI Airport arrested an Indian passenger arriving from Bangkok on Flight AI 2335 on June 21 after allegedly recovering 13.84 kg of hydroponic weed from his baggage. The seized contraband is estimated to be worth around ₹4.83 crore. Further investigation is underway.

Seizure: 6,934 grams (net weight) Heroin
The customs officers of IGI airport, New Delhi, have booked a case of smuggling white color NDPS substance. On the basis of profiling, one Indian passenger arriving from Kuala Lumpur by flight no. OD-205 dated 16.06.2026 was intercepted by Customs officers at the Green Channel of Terminal-3, IGI Airport, New Delhi.
During X-ray screening and detailed examination of two trolley bags carried by the passenger, four (04) packets containing white-coloured powder suspected to be Heroin were recovered.
The recovered substance weighed 6,934 grams (net weight) and, upon diagnostic testing, prima facie tested positive for Heroin. The estimated value of the seized contraband is approximately ₹34.67 crore.
Accordingly, the passenger was arrested under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985 and the suspected Heroin along with the packing material was seized.
Further investigation is in progress.

The customs officers of IGI airport, New Delhi, have booked a case of smuggling green color NDPS substance. On the basis of profiling, one Indian passenger arriving from Bangkok by flight no. 6E-1054 dated 09.06.2026 was intercepted by Customs officers at Terminal-3, IGI Airport, New Delhi on 10.06.2026.
During X-ray screening and detailed examination of the passenger's baggage, eight (08) polythene pouches containing green-coloured narcotic substance suspected to be Ganja/Marijuana were recovered from a black-coloured trolley bag.
The recovered substance weighed 6,939.5 grams (net weight) and, upon diagnostic testing, prima facie tested positive for Ganja/Marijuana. The estimated value of the seized contraband is approximately ₹2.43 crore.
Accordingly, the passenger was arrested under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985 and the contraband along with the packing material was seized.

During X-ray screening of the passenger's baggage, suspicious images were noticed. Subsequent detailed examination of the baggage resulted in recovery of three (06) vacuum-sealed packets suspected to contain Hydroponic Weed (Ganja) weighing approximately 4045 grams. The market value of the seized hydroponic weed is approx. 1.42 crore.

Customs Foils Major Hydroponic Weed Smuggling Attempt at IGI Airport; 15.38 Kg Narcotics Concealed Inside Geysers Seized
Based on profiling and specific intelligence, Customs officers at IGI Airport, New Delhi, successfully detected and thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotic substance into India.
Two passengers arriving from Kuala Lumpur by Flight No. D7-182 on 07.06.2026 were intercepted after crossing the Green Channel. During surveillance and examination, officers observed that the passengers were carrying two brand-new geysers in addition to their checked-in baggage.
During sustained interrogation and scrutiny of the suspects' mobile phone communications, officers developed a strong suspicion regarding the contents of the geysers. The appliances were therefore subjected X-ray examination, which indicated the possibility of concealed material hidden within their internal structure.
Subsequent dismantling of both geysers led to the exposure of a highly sophisticated concealment mechanism. Customs officers recovered 145 vacuum-sealed packets ingeniously concealed inside the appliances. Examination of the recovered packets revealed a green leafy substance suspected to be Hydroponic Weed (Ganja).
The total gross weight of the recovered narcotic substance was found to be 15.38 kilograms. The estimated illicit market value of the seized contraband is approximately ₹5.38 crore.
The recovered narcotic substance has been seized under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985, and both passengers have been placed under arrest.

The customs officers of IGI airport, New Delhi, have booked a case of smuggling green color NDPS substance. On the basis of profiling, one Indian national passenger travelling from Bangkok to Delhi by flight no. TG-315 dated 03.06.2026 was intercepted after crossing the Customs Green Channel at IGI Airport, New Delhi.
During X-ray screening of the passenger's baggage, suspicious images were noticed. Subsequent detailed examination of the baggage resulted in recovery of six (06) identical vacuum-sealed packets suspected to contain Hydroponic Weed (Ganja) weighing approximately 6.020 kg (net weight). The market value of seized NDPS substance is around 2.10 Cr. The recovery indicated an attempt to smuggle narcotic substances into India through passenger baggage.

The customs officers of IGI airport, New Delhi, have booked a case of smuggling of green colour NDPS substance. One Indian passenger travelling from Bangkok to Delhi by flight no. 6E-1064 dated 29.05.2026 was intercepted after crossing the Customs Green Channel at IGI Airport, New Delhi.
During detailed examination, the suitcase was found to be unusually heavy. A meticulous inspection led to the detection of specially designed false cavities concealed within the upper and lower sections of the baggage. Hidden inside these cavities, Customs officers recovered two vacuum-sealed packets containing suspected Hydroponic Weed (Ganja) weighing approximately 2.6 kg. The market value of the seized hydroponic weed is approx. 91 lakhs.

The Customs Officers of IGI Airport, New Delhi, have booked a case of smuggling. One passenger travelling from Bangkok to Delhi by flight no. AI-2335 dated 12.05.2026 was discreetly kept under surveillance by Customs officers at IGI Airport, New Delhi.
Simultaneously, another passenger arriving from Sharjah by flight no. IX-136 was spot profiled while crossing the Green Channel with a bag having no baggage tag. During X-ray screening, suspicious images were noticed.
On detailed enquiry and personal search, baggage tags were recovered from the passenger, who admitted that he had been instructed to collect the bag booked in the name of the Bangkok passenger. Further examination of the baggage resulted in recovery of Hydroponic Weed (Ganja) weighing 17.720 kg (including packing material).

The Customs Officers at IGI Airport, New Delhi, intercepted two Thailand national passengers arriving from Bangkok by flight no. AI-2356 dated 22.05.2026 after they crossed the Customs Green Channel.
Acting on specific profiling inputs and suspicious travel indicators, Customs officers subjected the baggage of both passengers to detailed examination.
Subsequently, a thorough physical examination of the baggage was conducted, which resulted in the recovery of six (06) vacuum-sealed packets suspected to contain Hydroponic Weed (Ganja). Out of the total recovery, four packets weighing approximately 29 kilograms were recovered from the baggage of one passenger, while two packets weighing approximately 19 kilograms were recovered from the baggage of the second passenger. The total quantity of the suspected narcotic substance recovered in the case was approximately 47.805 kilograms(Net weight). The market value of the recoverd NDPS substance is approx 48 Cr.
This is one of the highest seizures in recent times at IGI airport, Delhi.

Seizure: 396 grams Gold
The Customs Officers at IGI Airport, New Delhi, on the basis of spot profiling, booked two separate cases of gold smuggling involving two passengers arriving from Riyadh by Flynas flight.
During screening at the Green Channel, both passengers were diverted for X-ray examination of their baggage. On scanning, suspicious images were noticed inside chocolate packets carried by the passengers. The packets were detained on suspicion of concealment of gold in dust form and sent for detailed examination and recovery.
Subsequently, after furnace recovery, a total of 396 grams of gold of 999.9 purity, concealed inside chocolates, was recovered in the two cases (200 grams and 196 grams respectively).
The recovered gold was seized under the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962 and cases have been booked against the passengers.
