Subtle and understated. Start on a mellow note and have an oaky finish. Served best with things that were once alive. Naval Officer @ RCN's Sea Training Group.
@LeBrunJames81 My grandfather was fighting with the Canadians and British in this very battle (obviously unsure about this specific action), he was trying to get home from Sicily where he was unceremoniously dumped after surviving North Africa. My family home is a few miles to the east, Sepino
@LeBrunJames81 I think I know exactly when this is, specifically, I'm pretty sure this is the Search Turn then-CDR Topshee got me to execute when we were OCS for a serial. I literally had no idea what I was doing haha, having been introduced to the concept literally minutes before doing it haha
@placentadoc My father was forced to convert from being fully left handed in school to being right handed. I was fortunate (๐คทโโ๏ธ) in that I was fully left handed and was generally left alone about it by teachers. They thought I was weird for other reasons ๐
@InProgress35 And we do measure the impacts of public demonstration events. ADM(PA) and RCAF PA both have metrics on this, it's just not shared outside of public accountability circles.
@InProgress35 Presumes you can reduce a series of life choices into a data point. Can you measure impressions? Yes. But that won't give you the data you seek. A/S's are a factor, but you'll never find it being "the" reason someone joins. Does that make it less valuable? Not in my opinion.
@InProgress35 The desire to translate everything into data is compelling, but this is a case where data would be misleading at best, or just inconclusive. There is no way that the 7 year-old who goes to an Air Show and later becomes a fighter pilot will put that data point on his application.
@InProgress35 Well, it worked for me. Aside from anecdotal evidence of my own, Air Shows bring the often far away world of Military Air Ops to the public, building support for the rather large expenditure of public money. It would be impossible to measure that into recruitment.
@cdssuofm@DMike_Day Oh definitely, I'm aware of that. The ship's are not what I'm talking about though, it's the infrastructure to support them. If we can create a surveillance radar site + Naval support facility, we'd be getting mutually supportive operations that allow for an arctic base.
On June 26, #CANR CF-18s took part in an intercept training scenario of a ๐บ๐ธ Bomber in the North Atlantic off the East Coast of Canada as part of #NORAD Op #NobleDefender demonstrating a layered defence capability for North America. @NORADCommand@RCAF_ARC
@placentadoc This project, and it's sequels, are not only seen as a giant success in Alberta, but also across the US and Europe in areas facing similar issues. Several projects have modelled themselves after this, crediting this success for their approval. We should definitely be proud!
The Navy offers Canadians the opportunity to see the world while serving their country.
It can be challenging at times, and thatโs why the new Naval Experience Program gives participants the chance to experience life in the Navy, for 1 year, no strings attached!
#SeaForYourself
@MidOfficer The RCN is feeling this same problem set at the systems level. Complexity vs commonality vs robustness vs availability. The AOPs is on the front line of this paradigm shift, and despite what pundits say, I think the jury is still out.
@DMike_Day@ZuliTwo@Army_RCN Most people that claim the AOPS are not warships are implying it is not useful to the Navy. If it is armed, and can conduct operations on behalf of the Navy, it is a warship. *see Canadian Armed Yachts of WWII. I'm sure the Kriegsmarine wasn't picky about distinctions.
@yegbanya Aside from randomly fishing it out of the ocean, the mop is like an irreverent take on the broom...used mostly to represent a "clean sweep" (all pass) on a career course for one ship of students.
I am happy / relieved to report that I have finally passed the Command Development Course Sea Phase. Though this is not a big deal to most, it took a significant amount of work by me, and the very direct support of many others for me to get here.
