@RedbirdFarmhand@AdamAkbani I wouldn’t shop Burly, but I definitely would’ve repositioned our catching depth & turned 1 or 2 of them into position player depth. They’ve talked all offseason about needing a RHB & I think they should be able to turn Pages (or others) into a bat with 3-4 years of team control.
@bschaeffer12 I assume Bregman goes to BOS, Bichette goes to CHC, and then things start to clear up for Donny. That would put CLE, SEA, & KC in the race for Donny, Hoerner, or Suarez. I think KC gets Hoerner, SEA might prefer spending money over prospects, & that leaves CLE. But who knows.
@RedbirdFarmhand If they were to get Cijntje, Celesten/Bautista, and Dickerson. That feels like a slam dunk to me. Celesten is right out of the top 100 and Bautista has the tools to be in the top 100 with a few swing adjustments. Dickerson has interesting upside with little proven.
@jmjones Kazuma Okamoto makes sense. Likely won’t take a large commitment and fits the description. Played a little outfield, 1B, and 3B. Interesting batting profile.
@SamWize3@Man0fTheWoods@MLBaseball_Live Remember that Jordan Walker was the #4 prospect in baseball not too long ago and he flamed out. It’s possible that Young is able to out perform Donovan… it’s also just as likely he’s a flop and you missed out on his consistency because they didn’t want to trade potential.
@SamWize3@Man0fTheWoods@MLBaseball_Live Just as the Cards have 15 other teams with interest & would welcome the consistency of Donovan. The M’s have great prospects, but there’s no guarantee they’ll hit better than him right now. To get something, you have to give up something. Hard to find that kind of consistency.
@Man0fTheWoods@MLBaseball_Live There’s no reason the Cards shouldn’t be able to get Montes. In all fairness, I would prefer a deal of Jurrangelo and Arroyo for Donovan. I just think it’s crazy to think Donovan couldn’t get you Montes+. That’s not an inditement on Montes, just more of how good Donovan is.
@BKSportsTalk I’ve been saying this since the beginning of the offseason. Workout out a sweetheart deal. The ole’ if we aren’t married by 35 then we just marry each other deal.
If you don’t have a deal by January 1st, we just swap out contracts.
@woodbat28@gingersnaphyde My assumption/hope is they cover $18M to get $6-8M of surplus and then get 2 prospects back. Reporting is the Chaim is focusing on pitching mostly, but I’d like to see him get a pitcher and someone with loud tools. I’d say Harrison and Azocar
@gingersnaphyde@woodbat28 I will say though, I think you won’t see the regression that is projected. Since he moved from behind the dish to first, I think that gives him some longevity. I could see it being the case whoever gets him picks up the option. Especially with the time value of money.
