The funniest part of the whole gamer discourse on UE5 being a "bad engine" is that it was less than a year ago that the same people were saying everyone should switch to it and that other engines would result in bad games.
Getting off twitter, really hope that the community I found here finds another place to coalesce. It really was special for awhile there, and it meant the world to an aspiring game developer taking that step to considering y'all as colleagues.
Find me @ dellbarnes on π¦
@mrschief7 It's wild because the stalker community on the old forums were fantastic and actively shared console and config fixes for the game because the first two stalkers were two wrong saves from completely broken
@KyleTsetso Two years ago I got diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer at 26.
Cancer is always scary but from my experience treatment for colon cancer specifically has made leaps and bounds in the last twenty years, after chemo+radiation+surgery I was healthy and recovered within the year.
@chhopsky I feel like no doctor has ever taken the real time and effort to talk about how much Stimulant medication and its effects so inconsistent depending on diet and other small changes.
@mrschief7 To take it a step further in the 1900s there was sufficient street car coverage to get from new York to Ohio without more than a 20 minute walk between unconnected lines.
@ualogic@KatDiedAgain Well that's the thing, a "sight" isn't a single point, it's actually two pieces of glass (or even with iron sights, two points of space) the reticle does stay aligned to the point of aim even if the angle you're viewing it changes.
@mrschief7 I remember my colon-rectal surgeon at a check up was like "okay I want you to stay on 2 imodium a day for the next month, you can get it over the counter" and I was like "bro, give me a script, cause I hit my out of pocket maxiumum, you'll save me a cool hundred bucks"
@GenePark It's insane to go back to Ace combat 5 from way back in 2004 and see just how strong the series was in style even back then. The way they elevated the simple missing briefings is so subtly brilliant it just makes everything sing.
Like damn, it's like experiencing the Universe all over again because I started watching when I was 5-6 years old and never felt the full impact of this shit until I locked over at her completely slack jawed
Finished 0080: War in the Pocket with my girlfriend and she is a sweet, kind empathetic cinnamon roll and was like
"What do you mean that didn't effect the war at all and they died for nothing?"
I'm ecstatic she is invested in gundam, but feel bad for the devastation I'm causing
All this to say, not only are you wrong because the scene is fucking cool, but on very very many levels of lore to say
"Hurr durr, it ruined star wars why didn't the droids just do it all the time with small rocks blehhhh"
One of these days I'm gonna make a video essay on why the Holdo maneuver was not a cannon breaking thing at all, and it's perfectly supported by both the established lore, and set up in the movie for audiences.
