The Florida juco playoffs have been incredibly entertaining.
The comebacks and momentum shifts have been extraordinary.
As pure as baseball gets.
Just a bunch of players and coaches competing their asses off.
No NIL.
No Vanity.
Every coach and every player fighting to do what they can for their team.
Many players are over-coached, over-drilled, and way too mechanical in their movements these days.
Mechanics matter, but not to the point where we coach the natural athleticism right out of a player.
When I’m working with a hitter I love to use this cue: “Pretend you’re playing Whiffle Ball home run derby in the backyard with your buddies—what does that swing look like?”
Then we build from there. It’s eye opening to see them swing when they are freed up to move naturally.
IMO overcoming adversity is the single most important thing competitive athletics has the chance to teach you. None of us like dealing with failure but man is there a gold mine waiting on the other side of you can fight through it. Character is built in the tough times.

College coaches: Had the opportunity to coach 2024 HS grad, @luke_wil_son this weekend at @Rangers@GlobeLifeField in the @ftrstarsseries event vs some of the top Jucos in the country (San Jac, Blinn, New Mexico JC, Northwest Florida)…and with a roster full of P5 commits…he is LEGIT. If I’m still coaching college baseball, I’m offering him. If I go back to college coaching(I might with the right opportunity) he will be offered. Happy to answer any questions.
The @Angels sign their top international prospect this year, Joswa Lugo (left) for $2.3 million and Dominican outfielder Hayden Alvarez (right) to a $685,000 bonus

Had to cut one of my 13u players for showing up to practice in a hoodie this morning. If you can’t handle a little wind maybe youth baseball isn’t for you. Frostbite is temporary, state titles are forever. #BeElite
