@ReallyAmerican1 I was visiting a friend at the Department of Energy cafeteria. I started to buy his coffee but he stopped me, saying that he can't take gifts.
@ABROLUSOK @tribelaw You held him in high regard because through most of his academic career he vigorously defended the underdog and fought for the right of accused people to counsel, even if they were icky -- arguing that if they lose the right to defend themselves, we all do. Such a loss.

I want these two women, Niloofar Hamedi and Elahe Mohammadi, to be famous.
Niloofar and Elahe are Iranian reporters who reported on the death of Mahsa Zhina Amini.
They are now in prison and could face the death penalty.

@BrynnTannehill I don't doubt your scenario for a minute. I had a long convo w/ a retired mil/LE officer last year who told me in deadly earnest that if the time came he would be out "shooting people who don't share my ideology - and I have 18 friends who feel exactly the same way".
This is an important thread. It's about the incipience of widespread violence and what that can lead to, from the perspective of an Iraq war vet who watched the dynamic play out there.
