@HKWORLDCITY One of the recurring themes in the #HongKongProtests is how the government keeps suppressing & silencing the voices of Hong Kong people. Whether it's through fake Twitter bots or state propaganda, our messages are being drowned out.
#FollowBackHongKong and let us be heard.
Around 20 people gathered at Lion Rock in Hong Kong on New Year's Eve and displayed a light-up sign reading "Free HK political prisoners" as they counted down to the new year. Photos: HKFP.
An anonymous group of Hongkongers did this on New Year’s Eve amid severe crackdowns on political freedoms. They would be jailed for years if caught. That’s bravery in action.
Release ALL political prisoners now.

Today, Alexandra “Grandma Wong” was sentenced to 8 months in prison for peacefully protesting 3 years ago—for waving a flag and saying slogans in #HongKong
She never gave up her fight for HongKongers.

1/4 Today, I testified at the Congressional Executive Commission on China @CECCgov about my experience with the broken Hong Kong justice system. You can watch my oral testimony (along with my co-witnesses) & read my longer written testimony on my Substack. https://t.co/aoSEUlyT41
Mr. Koo was my cell-mate for several weeks in prison. I’m forever in awe of his courage and commitment.
“Mr. Koo urged the court not to show mercy on him. ‘I don’t mind being a martyr for democracy and human rights,’ Mr. Koo said before his sentencing.” https://t.co/bynOeWDPTx
Today marked the one year anniversary of the closure of Apple Daily 🍎. A group of former Apple Daily reporters gathered outside the headquarters to mourn their loss.
📸: supplied.
She was loved for standing up to China. She may die in jail.
The story of Claudia Mo is also that of 🇨🇳Beijing’s tightening grip on #HongKong

One year ago, #CCPChina🇨🇳 forcefully shut down Apple Daily, a newspaper that provided a voice for HongKongers.
The forced closure of #AppleDaily🍎 effectively marks the death of press freedom in #HongKong.
612 is a special day in #HongKong history and will forever be remembered.
Many young people became adults. Many adults became their parents.
It’s a day of anger and sadness, yet it’s also a day of awakening.
See you at the rally today.
#StandWithHongKong no matter where we are.
Joshua Wong is still being held by the Chinese dictatorship as a political prisoner in Hong Kong. His only crime? Standing up for freedom. I had the honour of chatting with Josh over text before he was jailed and he continues to inspire me. We can’t forget him
(1/6) I was at Hong Kong’s first violent police crackdown on June 12, 2019, and documented what I saw on camera. For today’s third anniversary, I’ve sharing an account of what I saw, along with photos and videos I took that day. https://t.co/SDhDQbURZ1
Well done, Internet.
With this incident and the very similar Mayer Brown statue debacle last year, I hope intl law firms will take a hard look at their human rights oversight procedures across the world. What are your lawyers doing in your firm’s name that you don’t know about?
It's outrageous that this law firm is participating in an event to promote #HongKong's appalling draconian #NationalSecurityLaw
US law firm denounced for joining event to mark Hong Kong security law https://t.co/mAI1Rm8dfY
Whoa. According to a just-unsealed FBI complaint, a Chinese spy in New York posed as a dissident for years & befriended Hong Kong activist Albert Ho. He then fed information about Albert & other HK activists to China. Albert is now in HK prison on national security charges.
"The arrest of Cardinal Zen is a blow for the entire church in Hong Kong, China and the world"
International outrage follows arrest of 90-year-old Catholic cardinal under Hong Kong national security law - deepening fears at China's crackdown on the city

For us, #Ukraine🇺🇦 has always been close to our hearts. Thanks for being our inspiration and we will try our best to forward your message to HongKongers around the world.
Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the heroes!
Слава Україні! Героям слава!
Hong Kong’s Young Independent Filmmakers Break New Ground Despite Crackdown
“To a new breed of young Hong Kong filmmakers, … the death of Hong Kong film is only a self-fulfilling prophecy if one lets it be.” 📽✊ @crystalchow913
