@jonassiegel If everyone in Florida is what they appeared to be last year, their team is dogshit.
Yet people seem to be willing to write that off for everyone that isn't now a leaf.
@jonassiegel Borderline clickbait to question whether they are better. Absolutely can question whether they are better 'enough'. Not just through additions but subtractions of guys who were serious liabilities.
@Rentfreebiches@leafguy403 They needed a bunch of role players though, you can't have only stars... If Raddysh is even 80% of what he was last year he's a massive upgrade. McKenna is a free roll upgrade.
If we're holding florida players to what they were last year the whole team is still horrible.
@CrockAj@Rentfreebiches@leafguy403 Except that Florida kept negotiating with him until the very end. If they truly thought he was cooked they wouldn't have even been talking to him.
@monk3y_bizness@TraderMike16@LeafsPapi_ You mean... used... their cap space?
Typically that is what teams in a cap league try to do.
Of all those players they signed, 4 of them are more than a 2 year deal. Only Raddysh beyond 3 years. Very easy to move most of them if they needed to.
@SamAMcKee This is true... but the reverse of this is Frasier Minten or the many instances of leafs letting go of prospects too easily/too soon and then looking like morons.
@KarlKyhnell@escola_crypto@SharpFootball As someone who doesn't know the rules well enough to say... I do know one thing before I just take their word for it, the commentators were VERY US biased.
@mic_mazz Still wouldn't rule him out, but it happening today(which isn't a deadline for anything) was very optimistic. Though honestly, if I was the leafs, I'd pivot to calling about Harley... Dallas just tried to move him...
@Metalpanthers@reporterchris Honestly 3x7 is less than what a lot of people had been saying. Heard a lot of rumors of more term, more aav. That's not horrible.
As for his year last year, the entire panthers team was horrible so if you hold everyone to last years performance nobody is good there.
@AllEliteLeo@DarrenDreger Yes, but that doesn't mean 10 teams will want to pay more for a 1 year rental. What changes then is that the teams will want a contract deal in place when they trade for him. He will still have massive leverage.
@ScottKaufmann7@DarrenDreger They don't have their own first round pick the next two years. They may as well try to compete, there's nothing to tank for.
@Senators4Life@DarrenDreger I guess he wants to play with Matthews? A big market? There really isn't any other reasons.
It is mildly refreshing to see a player that doesn't want to run to some small time market and cry about how they don't want anybody to notice them on the streets.
