I was in 5th grade 25 years ago and had no idea what was going on. My teacher turned on the TV just in time for us to see the second plane crash into the South Tower.

My perspective has changed, but my heart goes out to those affected by this day in any capacity.

There is a mixed bag of ideas on who was responsible for 9/11, but one thing is certain: countries envy us, want us divided, and want us extinct.

Muchas personas quedaron atrapadas por encima de los pisos en llamas, mientras los bomberos intentaban desesperadamente hacer todo lo posible por salvar sus vidas. Para quienes estaban atrapados en las torres en llamas, prácticamente solo había dos opciones: morir lentamente a causa del fuego o saltar y enfrentar una muerte rápida.

Na manhã de 11 de setembro de 2001, uma terça-feira de céu claro em Nova York, o mundo estava prestes a testemunhar um dos acontecimentos mais marcantes do século XXI.

Às 8h46, o American Airlines Flight 11, um Boeing 767 que havia decolado de Boston com destino a Los Angeles, foi lançado contra a Torre Norte do World Trade Center. O avião atingiu os andares 93 a 99, abrindo um enorme buraco no edifício e provocando uma explosão de combustível e destroços.

Naquele primeiro momento, porém, muitas pessoas ainda acreditavam que havia acontecido um acidente aéreo. Câmeras de televisão começaram a transmitir imagens da torre em chamas, enquanto bombeiros, policiais e equipes de emergência corriam para o local.

O impacto teve consequências devastadoras. O avião destruiu as três escadas de emergência da Torre Norte, deixando centenas de pessoas acima do ponto de impacto sem uma rota de fuga.

A ligação que revelou que algo estava muito errado

Antes da colisão, a comissária de bordo Betty Ong conseguiu telefonar para funcionários da American Airlines e informar que o avião havia sido sequestrado. Ela permaneceu na ligação durante aproximadamente 23 minutos, transmitindo informações sobre o que estava acontecendo dentro da aeronave.

Às 9h03, enquanto as imagens da Torre Norte ainda eram transmitidas ao vivo, o United Airlines Flight 175 atingiu a Torre Sul.

The people above the impact in the WTC's North Tower on September 11, 2001, possibly faced the worst situation and death among all the victims of the attacks on that day.

American Airlines Flight 11 struck 1 World Trade Center at a.m., roughly from the 93rd through the 99th floors. In that building the hit destroyed or blocked all three stairwells. Fire and debris filled the core.

Anyone on about the 92nd floor and higher had no intact downward route. The South Tower, hit later, still had one stairwell that some people above the impact used. Below the North Tower impact, thousands also walked down. But above the wound, no one who was still in those offices after the strike got out.

Roof rescue, which some expected from drills or from the 1993 bombing memory, was not available. Heat and smoke made a helicopter landing impossible. Roof access was not an open escape. Windows, smoke, and rising temperature left people with a fire they could not pass and a clock they could not stop.

Smoke filled the upper floors. Flames advanced through the offices. People broke windows for air. Some fell or jumped.

The North Tower stood until 10.28 a.m., a little more than an hour and forty minutes after the impact. That interval was long enough for phone calls and for the full knowledge that the end was near.

Other victims that day died in the aircraft, in the South Tower, on the street, in the collapse, or as rescuers. Those deaths were not lesser. But the particular cruelty of the upper North Tower was that the building still stood long enough for people to know they would not leave it, as shown by these dramatic images.

It's often hard to tell just how huge the pile of rubble at ground zero was from the aerial footage or from far away shots.
But just look at how massive these beams are next to the construction workers in this man-lift. Incredible.

It took nearly 9 months to clear that hole. And that's in NYC, the most efficient construction machine on planet earth. It still took almost a year.

At the time there was almost an obsession with cleaning up downtown among the people. I remember in that first week 1000s of regular citizens showed up uninvited, just to help. So many people came that they eventually had to restrict it.
It's hard to describe the feeling in New York in those days. I'm even a bit emotional right now thinkin back to it, but I feel like there was a mentality that life couldn't move on, until that site was rectified.

For the rest of the country the New York side of 9/11 was a day or two on TV. After that it was all political recourse.
But for us, once all the cameras left, the devastation and trauma set in hard. There was a mangled mass of death and destruction sitting in the middle of our universe. And harsh reminders in your face at every turn...
I remember the Middletown train station sat with dozens of abandoned cars that that stayed there for weeks.
Those were dark days.
So I get choked up when I watch video like this because it reminds me of how everyone in and around New York City came together. It was this odd beautiful moment that shone through this horrific tragedy.
I know to many these people are just construction workers, but to me they are just as much heroes as anyone else.

Komisi IX DPR tidak pernah dikonsultasi.
Tidak pernah dapat laporan.
Tidak pernah diminta persetujuan.

Kalau disampaikan ke kami di sini, pasti akan kami tolak, kata Wakil Ketua Komisi IX Charles Honoris.

Dan ini yang paling bikin gue speechless.

Charles bilang dia nonton video dari salah satu media dan yang dia lihat adalah:
kantor distributor motor listrik itu belum selesai dibangun.
Tapi di dalamnya sudah disiapkan satu SPPG Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi yang akan beroperasi di sana.

Terjemahannya:

Ada pos anggaran yang tidak terpantau?

Tiga siapa distributornya?
Kantornya belum jadi tapi sudah jadi distributor resmi pengadaan pemerintah itu bisa terjadi hanya kalau ada yang melindungi di belakang.

Kalau pengadaan motor saja bisa bypass Kemenkeu, bypass DPR, masuk diam-diam, dan kantornya belum jadi apa lagi yang bisa bypass dengan cara yang sama?

Dan ini yang paling menyakitkan:
Program MBG lahir dari niat mulia memberi makan anak-anak Indonesia yang kekurangan gizi. Itu niat yang tidak bisa diperdebatkan kebenarannya.

Tapi niat mulia yang dieksekusi dengan tata kelola yang kotor ujungnya bukan anak-anak yang kenyang. Ujungnya distributor motor yang belum punya kantor yang panen.

Dan yang rugi? Sama seperti biasa.
Rakyat yang bayar pajak.
Dan anak-anak yang harusnya dapat makan bergizi tapi anggaran programnya habis di jalan.

Senin 13 April 2026 BGN dipanggil Komisi IX DPR.
Dan gue harap DPR kali ini tidak cuma memanggil tapi benar-benar minta jawaban yang konkret dan transparan.

Karena kalau rapat Senin itu berakhir dengan jawaban normatif dan tidak ada yang dipecat atau diselidiki berarti kita semua tahu ceritanya akan ke mana.
