The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints expanded its humanitarian efforts in Africa by drilling boreholes for clean drinking water in Kolwezi, Democratic Republic of the Congo; donating medical equipment to a hospital in Vihiga County, Kenya; and providing desks, a wash station and latrines to a school in Kigali, Rwanda.
Additionally, the Church supported women in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, by donating equipment and participating in a women's empowerment event.
"We are happy, and we thank God for what you have done," said Vihiga County Gov. Wilber Ottichilo.

Earlier today, the Mayor of the City of Kigali, Samuel Dusengiyumva (@dusengiyumvas), received Elder Paul B. Pieper, Africa Central Area Leader of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Their discussions focused on strengthening existing collaboration in socio-economic initiatives, as well as exploring new corporate social opportunities aimed at enhancing the social welfare of city residents.
