Group set up to support our isolated community members. Creating a warm space, a hot meal, and the opportunity to combat loneliness while forming friendships.
We are 2 this Sunday. Two whole years weve been supporting our members living with loneliness, social isolation or dementia. What an amazing group weve created and one we are extremely proud of. Without funding from @AffinityCareCP and our community it wouldn't be possible.
Today is the legendary Myles 73rd birthday and what a kind human this gent is. We celebrated his birthday with him on Sunday and we think he absolutely loved his new hat and looks rather dapper!! Happy Birthday Myles. #makingadifference@AffinityCareCP@N_Watch@2024Nursekelly
Seen as one of our volunteers had her grapes pinched last week by most of our members, we will now be providing fruit every week. For those who struggle to add this into their weekly shop can take home whats left. #freefruit#supportingourvulnerable#HealthyLiving
We had a few members missing this week which was a shame, however we've had the best time celebrating St Patricks day today. Homemade Guinness and steak pie.
Thank you again to Helen at @AffinityCareCP for your continued support with our group. It is really appreciated. Without this our group just wouldn't survive. So thank you. π
Our first games morning along side this mornings @DenholmeReports. Chess, dominoes, cake and conversation enjoyed by all. Already looking forward to next months.
Our members have twisted my arm into organising them a board game Saturday session, which will run alongside our @DenholmeReports
3rd Saturday of each month on a trial basis.
If it's successful, it will continue. Another great way to combat loneliness and form friendships.
We would just like to thank our local community for their continued support by way of donations.
All donations and funding Sunday Social receive helps us to supply meals every week, buy additional equipment, and enables us to buy our members' birthday gifts. Thank you. β€οΈ
Genuinely a huge thank you to Jordan and Michael for transporting all our Sunday Social members too and from the youth cafe safely. All gents chuffed to get out and have a decent meal. Personally, thank you all for their hard work. @AffinityCareCP
Thanks to some great community spirit, some serious digging and gritting, and some kind 4Γ4 drivers to transport our members safely tomorrow. We can finally open and feed our members tomorrow. This is why I love Denholme. Some very excited gents are looking forward to tomorrow.
That's Sunday Social done for 2024. Christmas meal and Christmas gifts were gratefully received by all our members. Happy Christmas to our members. Volunteers and supporters. It's been a great 2024.
Sunday Social will now be a men only group. There is a clear need for a group like this, supporting vulnerable, socially isolated gents or those living with dementia/alzhiemers. We are here to support members with such a need. Supporting Denholmes gents! @NHWDenholme@DenholmeYc
We are sad to share that we lost one of our most loved members this week. Richard. No longer suffering and no longer in pain. Rest now, Richard. We will remember you and miss you dearly.
Today, we celebrated this gents 83rd birthday. He is such a kind human who became very emotional when we sang happy birthday π π₯³ π.
We are truly honoured to be able to help our members celebrate their birthday.
