📢 Public Advisory: ParksNL Implementing Wildfire Prevention Measures

To mitigate risk of wildfires in Newfoundland and Labrador, Provincial Parks are putting temporary measures in place effective immediately:

• Smoking is only allowed at gravel campsites in parks with campgrounds. Please put cigarette butts in water to safely dispose of them.
• No smoking is allowed in Day Use Parks, Park Reserves, or the T’Railway Provincial Park.
• No burning devices like propane fire pits are allowed. Only gas devices used for cooking are permitted.
• Generators are not allowed, unless needed for a documented medical condition.

These measures will be in place for the duration of the weekend. An update will be provided on Monday, August 18.

Based on the current projection, #Lee will start to make its presence known in the Maritimes on Friday night.

While the exact track isn't known, the storm will be so large it will not matter much.

Impacts to #nlwx look minimal. Pretty much just rain and some breezy conditions at times Sat/Sun/Mon. Nothing out of the ordinary with respect to it.
