In addition to weakening FOIA, Republicans also voted to give away $100M+ in PERMANENT tax cuts to the wealthy while only giving working Arkansans a *one-time* $150 credit.
Democratic state rep @DeniseforAR explained why this bill is a bad deal for our state
This sp session will be over quickly.
We'll vote on more tax cuts for the wealthy (I'm no),
but even worse,
is the bill to gut FOIA (I'm no).
You employ all govt leaders.
You have the right to know how they spend our dollars.
That's how democracy works.
Let's cut: regressive taxes (grocery tax), end food deserts; & add: earned income & child care tax credits, maternal infant care, universal pre-K, afterschool & summer programs, affordable housing & statewide broadband, mental health, neurodiverse & foster care...the list goes on
Senator @xjelliott makes it plain. A one-time $150 credit. One million Arkansans are just supposed smile and say thank you?
Sarah clearly doesnβt care about solving real issues.
Imagine if we had a government that helped fix problems instead of aggressively creating them.
