On Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026, just after 4 p.m., Frankfort police were called to a home in the 22700 block of Brook Stone Court for an injured/unresponsive 2-year-old.

A neighbor was already performing CPR on Barrett Walsh (born March 26, 2024; nickname “Bear”). The neighbor told investigators she found him in the basement hanging from a device attached to a rafter, with a ligature around his neck and his feet off the ground. She removed the ligature, lowered him, and called 911. He was cold and had no pulse. He was pronounced dead the same day.

Preliminary autopsy findings: death by asphyxia due to ligature compression of the neck. The coroner’s office called it an apparent homicide.

Officers were directed upstairs. Corie A. Walsh (reports list her as 38 or 40), mother of four, was found fully dressed in the master-bedroom bathtub, surrounded by bloody water, with cuts to her wrists and thighs. A neighbor had taken a knife from her and thrown it in the sink, then held a towel on the wounds until police arrived. Her injuries were described as non-life-threatening. She was taken for medical treatment and remains in custody pending transfer to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.

An infant was in the home and unharmed. Two school-age children returned around the time Barrett was found and were also unharmed. Walsh’s husband was out of state and flew home that evening.

Walsh was charged Friday with three counts of first-degree murder. Prosecutors say she told officers she “did this to her baby because he was the ‘devil’ and the ‘anti-Christ.’” They also say she later described to investigators how she killed him, and that her account matched what was found in the house.

Witnesses told police Walsh had recently become “very invested” in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial in Massachusetts (a mother accused of strangling her three children). Prosecutors say she was actively discussing that case in a group text with friends until about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday - about 3½ hours before the scene was discovered - while the Clancy jury was still deliberating.

Prosecutors have asked a judge to deny pretrial release, arguing Walsh poses a specific threat to her husband and her three surviving children.
