@MarcDWyz Plus, how can you trust Unity to not add even more unfair and deranged fees as they see fit? Unity is not a viable option from a trust point of view.
@mtrc I had to do a business plan 5 months ago including risk analysis. I had a plan if my computer blew up or my lease wasn't renewed.
I did not have a plan for Unity implementing an unprecedented and utterly insane new fee and completely destroying any trust I can have in them.
Whether Unity backtracks or not, the fact that these decisions made it through leadership, legal, marketing and employees, says a lot about the organizational health of the company.
As a partner, Unity is a source of unknown amount of risk. Making new games on it would be unwise
Very, very interesting.

"Unity removes Github repo to track license changes, then updates their license to remove the clause that lets you use the TOS from the version you shipped with, then insists games already shipped need to pay the new fees"
@georgebsocial I'm done with them. Even if the changes don't cost me a dime (because my sales are too small) the idea of a "per install" fee model is ludicrous.
I can't trust them at all. I have no idea what absurd fee model they'll introduce at any moment.
I wish I'd used Unreal.
@unity You have destroyed your brand.
Even if you walk back these changes, no dev will ever trust you again.
Everyone wants to move to any other engine ASAP.
Kind of funny... a while back I did a video about moving assets from Unity to Godot.

Suddenly... there is a weird blip in traffic for an otherwise "spent" video.
Odd eh?
> make a game
> game is fremium
> game makes 200k from in-app purchases after being installed 3 million times
> now owe Unity 20c per 2.8M installs, $560K
> that’s 360K more than we made
I love that there’s a stream of updates from 3rd parties that are all like
I talked to Unity and they clarified that:
1) the bad thing is even worse
2) the less bad thing is the same amount of bad
3) there’s a new secret 3rd bad thing that’s the worst thing you’ve ever heard
@unity This is one of the worst ideas I've ever seen. You're actively punishing people for having a successful product using your engine.
Please reconsider what you are doing. You are hurting thousands of creators that will most likely stop using your product because of this.
