The Inola smelter project is split between two companies:

✅ 60% of the pie belongs to EGA (Emirates Global Aluminium). EGA isn’t just a foreign company — it’s owned by the two sovereign wealth funds of the United Arab Emirates. So the biggest owner of the smelter is, quite literally, a foreign government.

✅ 40% of the pie belongs to Century Aluminum. This is the piece they call “American.” Century does have its main office in Chicago. But here’s the catch…
Who owns the “American” company?
Century Aluminum’s biggest owner is a company called Glencore, based in Switzerland. Glencore owns almost a third of Century, gets to pick people for Century’s board of directors, and bought more than half of everything Century sold last year. When one company owns that much of another and buys most of its product, it’s not a bystander — it has real control.

✅ And here’s the part they don’t mention.
Glencore isn’t just any foreign company. In 2022, Glencore pled guilty in U.S. federal court to bribing government officials in multiple countries and to rigging fuel prices in American markets. It paid over $1.1 billion in penalties — the largest case of its kind in U.S. Department of Justice history. It was also convicted of bribery in the United Kingdom and fined in Switzerland.

👆One more thing: Glencore’s second-biggest owner is Qatar Holding — the investment fund of the government of Qatar.

So let’s recap: When they say the smelter is “40% American,” what they mean is:
• The majority of the project belongs to the government of the UAE.
• The “American” 40% belongs to a company whose biggest owner is a Swiss corporation with criminal convictions for bribery and price-rigging.
• And that Swiss corporation is partly owned by the government of Qatar.

“Based in America” and “owned by Americans” are two very different things. The smelter is based here. The ownership — and the profits — mostly trace back to foreign governments and a foreign corporation with a criminal record.

None of this is a rumor or an opinion. It all comes from the companies’ own press releases, their filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and U.S. Department of Justice records.

A horse pulling a carriage in New York City’s Central Park collapsed and died Tuesday evening near Strawberry Fields, according to witnesses and animal welfare advocates. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m., with the horse reportedly dying minutes after collapsing.

The death comes just days before supporters of Ryder’s Law are set to rally at City Hall in support of legislation that would phase out the city’s horse-drawn carriage industry. The bill is named after Ryder, a carriage horse that collapsed while working in Manhattan in 2022 and later died from his injuries.

Cleveland County deputies are spending more time in unmarked vehicles and plain clothes than usual. Is it increased undercover work? Budget-conscious policing? Or is something else happening behind the scenes at the sheriff’s office?

And what about the K9 units? Word around the county is that some canine teams may not be fully CLEET-certified. If that’s true, what does it mean for training standards, liability, and operations within the Detention Center under Chief Ted Woodhead?

Transparency matters. Public trust matters. And taxpayers deserve to know how law enforcement resources are being used.

The $4B Inola aluminum smelter is an unbuilt infrastructure nightmare, and taxpayers are footing the bill. Before construction can even start, it requires massive upgrades that do not exist yet:

A massive 1,000+ MW power grid expansion.

Heavy-duty industrial waste and water systems.

Expanded river barge docks.

Final DEQ environmental permits.

Worse, it relies on a $500M federal grant and a $255M Oklahoma subsidy package. We are funding a project that threatens to strain our grid and faces a major AG lawsuit over pollution.
