A few corrections to this: The Josh Simmons issue started a week before the Lions game last season. He told the team he didn't know if he could play during warm-ups against the Jags on MNF. He ended up playing. He then left the city the Saturday after (the night before the Lions game). This was not approved. The team didn't know where he was for a lengthy period. They didn't inform his teammates of his whereabouts until the following Wednesday.
Moreover, he also took himself out of several series before that, once against the Eagles for an "eye" issue. People at the game say he was on the sidelines and no one checked his eye.
Let's go back to college:
Simmons randomly decommitted from Oregon to play for a much smaller school in San Diego State, close to home.
As mentioned below, he was also not present after his injury at Ohio State.
Likewise, why is he not on the sidelines now with the other injured Chiefs players?
I get this is a sensitive subject, and Chiefs fans don't like me providing this context, but we cover sports. It's a sports story.
The Chiefs need to find a new long-term LT. Simmons is not it. Whether it's his fault or not, he's not cut out to be a professional football player, which most teams acknowledged during the draft.
Even if he comes back this season, there will be instant concerns about how long until he takes off again.
(Final note: I have heard his wrist injury last year was real. That appears unrelated to the rest of this.)
@RiseUpReader Then what happens if Detroit also includes a clause where Gibbs will always have a higher contract? Will it just continue to keep bumping each one up forever?
@DavidJ31823357@brgridiron As a chiefs fan that’s watched every game of his career, he was the weakest link on the defense. Simply put it seemed like anything he did was more difficult than it needed to be
@kingdom_royals Yes but you can’t blame Veach for it. 46 on the consensus board, so small reach but there were plenty of mocks that had him going at 32. Players can’t develop when they’re injured, and even still a 14.5% pressure rate isn’t awful. The process was fine, outcome is on the player
