“Until the lions have their own historians, the history of the hunt will always glorify the hunter.” I paraphrase the timeless words of Chinua Achebe of blessed memory.
For too long, others have told the stories of policing from only one perspective. Through The Police Is Your Friend Podcast, we are creating a platform to bridge perception gaps, foster understanding, and tell our own stories with honesty, courage, and conviction.
The voices of the lions will be heard. We will speak of sacrifice, service, professionalism, and the humanity behind the uniform.
THE POLICE IS YOUR FRIEND. Our story. Our voice. Our truth. @TunjiDisu1@aleeygiwa
Updated Telephone Numbers of Area Commanders and DPOs in the Ogun State Police Command, Including the Gateway Shield Complaint Toll-Free Line and Control Room Numbers.
A detailed analysis of their digital footprints uncovered a structured surveillance operation, including photographs of the victim’s vehicles, school environment, daily routines, and lifestyle patterns, all used to profile and track the family prior to the attack.
With these combined intelligence assets, operatives were able to positively identify the suspects’ hideout located at Lado community Ayegun Ibadan.
On 6th June, 2026, at about 7:30 p.m., operatives of the FID-IRT, supported by other tactical teams of the Oyo State Police Command, stormed the identified hideout in a well-coordinated tactical operation aimed at rescuing the victims alive. However, upon sighting the advancing operatives, one of the gang members identified as "Kelechi," who had travelled from Lagos State and was positioned as a lookout, engaged the operatives in a gun duel. The operatives responded with superior tactical precision, resulting in the neutralization of Kelechi and another unidentified member of the gang.
Following the successful clearance of the hideout, the kidnapped victims—Mrs. Adegoke Olaide Busayo and her twin sons, Peter and Paul—were rescued unhurt and immediately placed in protective custody before being reunited with their family.
In continuation of mop-up and follow-up operations, the two principal suspects, Wale Abolalewa alias "Oloro" and Dare Oyedele alias "Solution," were taken into custody and are currently assisting investigators with critical information aimed at apprehending other fleeing members of the syndicate.
Additionally, two other suspects identified as agents responsible for contracting and facilitating the use of the said criminal hideout were also arrested. They are Semiu Ishola, aged 39 years, and Adeyemi Ayobami, aged 35 years, and are currently in police custody assisting ongoing investigation.

A viral video claiming to show armed bandits operating in a forest in Ogun State has once again resurfaced online despite having been previously debunked by the Ogun State Police Command.
The Command has repeatedly clarified that the footage is false, misleading, and has no connection whatsoever to Ogun State or any part of Nigeria. Yet, the same recycled video continues to be recirculated by individuals seeking to spread fear and misinformation.
Our investigations and independent fact-checks established long ago that the video was recorded in Kenya during an operation involving cattle rustlers and was originally uploaded online in 2022. It is neither recent nor related to Ogun State.
There is no intelligence, operational, or security report supporting the claims being made in the accompanying narrative.
The Ogun State Police Command therefore reiterates, for the umpteenth time, that the video is fake and should be disregarded. The persistent recycling of already-debunked content serves no purpose other than creating unnecessary panic and undermining public confidence.
Residents are advised to ignore the video, rely on official sources for security information, and refrain from sharing unverified content.
We reassure all residents that Ogun State remains safe, peaceful, and secure.

PRESS RELEASE
OYO STATE POLICE COMMAND DEBUNKS FALSE REPORT OF DEATH OF ABDUCTED SCHOOLCHILD, WARNS PURVEYORS OF MISINFORMATION
The Oyo State Police Command has observed with grave concern the circulation of a malicious and entirely unfounded report alleging that one of the schoolchildren abducted during the recent incident at Ahoro-Esiele, Oriire Local Government Area, has died while in captivity.
The Command categorically states that the report is false, misleading, mischievous, and without any factual basis whatsoever. At no time has the Oyo State Police Command, nor any other recognized security agency involved in the ongoing rescue efforts, confirmed such a development. The publication is a fabrication carefully crafted by individuals whose objective is to arouse unnecessary public sentiment, create panic, spread fear, and undermine ongoing security operations.
It is particularly disturbing that the authors of the report deliberately employed emotional narratives, speculative claims, and unverified accounts in a calculated attempt to manipulate public opinion and generate anxiety among residents. Such conduct not only constitutes a disservice to responsible journalism but also advances the very objectives of criminal elements and terror merchants who thrive on fear, uncertainty, and public distress.
The Command wishes to assure members of the public that concerted efforts by security agencies remain ongoing and that all operational activities concerning the incident are being pursued with the utmost professionalism, diligence, and confidentiality. The dissemination of false information at such a critical time has the potential to jeopardize ongoing efforts, cause unnecessary trauma to affected families, and mislead the general public.
Consequently, the Oyo State Police Command strongly cautions individuals, bloggers, social media influencers, online content creators, and media platforms against the publication or amplification of unverified security-related information. The indiscriminate sharing of false reports, particularly those capable of inciting fear or causing public disorder, is irresponsible and unacceptable.
The Command therefore appeals to all media houses, bloggers, and online content creators to exercise professionalism, responsibility, and due diligence in the discharge of their duties. They must refrain from becoming unwitting accomplices to those whose stock-in-trade is misinformation, fearmongering, and the deliberate distortion of facts for ulterior motives.
Members of the public are advised to disregard the said publication in its entirety and rely solely on information disseminated through official channels of the Nigeria Police Force and other authorized government agencies.
The Oyo State Police Command remains steadfast in its commitment to public safety and security and will continue to keep residents appropriately informed of verified developments as circumstances warrant.
