You cannot create the conditions for confrontation, then wash your hands of the consequences.
Riot police are on our streets because of the actions of unionism. The people of the Garvaghy Road have every right to protest against a provocative march through their community!
🚨🇬🇧 BREAKING: DUP leader Gavin Robinson has called for Sinn Fein leaders and ministers to be arrested, accusing them of giving “two fingers” to the “police, courts and rule of law” after they joined protesters on Garvaghy Road
BREAKING - High Court has granted interim relief to the Garvaghy Road residents, stopping the Orange march down Garvaghy road tomorrow, Sunday. #TeamPhoenix
Reducing this march to just “35 men walking down a road” completely minimises the history, and the very real fear it represents for the Garvaghy Road residents.
Shame on @little_pengelly and her party for trying to drag us back 30 years!
I have just watched Michelle O’Neill and Mary Lou McDonald from Sinn Fein outside the High Court in Belfast this evening.
This is a time for calm heads, not political rants.
This is a time to show leadership, not to wind up the community.
I have been appalled to see those who have decided to ramp up tensions, and dial up the rhetoric throughout today including senior Sinn Fein representatives on the decision by the Parades Commission to grant a very modest walk on the Garvaghy Road at 8am on Sunday morning.
Michelle O’Neill should be dialling down the temperature, not giving stump speeches. Regardless if someone agrees with the decision or not, all should be calming things down.
The behaviour of Sinn Fein at the very prospect of 35 men walking down a road at 8am on a Sunday morning, a parade that would take just moments to pass any point, says all you need to know about a “shared Ireland”.
The Portadown Orangemen have made clear there is absolutely no threat nor violence. There is nothing to fear from them and absolutely nothing to be apprehensive about.
Sinn Fein need to dial the anti-Unionist, anti-British sentiment and show leadership and encourage calm.
People keep highlighting this clip from a previous impasse...

The women of Ireland are fed up.
From our grandmothers, educated in Latin and the catechism, but not about menstruation, locked up whether they fell prey to a neighbour or ‘chose to commit a mortal sin’, as if either were crimes, as if they deserved a life in an institution.
We are delighted to open the first Sensory Room in Northern Ireland to support patients with a Learning Disability at our Emergency Department, Altnagelvin Hospital.
