Today, Saudi Arabia completed its 73rd conjoined twin separation surgery in Riyadh, separating Saja and Doha, 13-month-old Moroccan twins joined at the chest and abdomen.
Led by Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, 23 specialists worked six stages over ten hours. The twins shared heart membranes, liver, and intestines.
While other countries demanded a $1 million upfront, Saudi covered everything: travel, accommodation, surgery, medications, the medical team, and lifelong care, for this family and for many others.
Since 1990, the Saudi Conjoined Twins Programme has cared for 159 sets of twins from 28 countries across five continents. Thirty-five years of non-stop Saudi goodness to the world, and no one comes close.
Saudi Arabia is a force of good in this world. That’s what makes me proud. 🇸🇦
