On our blog: "S2J", our totally unscalable practice that helped us develop our app's user community. Stuff you can learn!
And within the post, a huge congrats to Roach, the winner of our december "snowman" drawing contest
I can't wait for an agent-first game engine that lets you bring your own external agent and invoke key operations of the engine. Unity is way behind here.
@bmfshow If he likes drawing, have him check out our app, Doodleboard. It's freemium and multiplayer. We're a very small team, but we're trying to make a wholesome, creative experience for folks to draw together. Here's a piece from some doodlers who won our recent "Grumpy Frog" contest.
@Azadux Amen. Copilot's agent is catching up. Claude Code is my favorite but Copilot with VS Code is good. If you use spec driven development, it normalizes the agents.
we launched Doodle Board Pro! It's just $0.99.
Lots of experiments, lots of hypotheses, one bundle that's so far a big success.
substack link in the first reply. read about the juicy details and decisions that went into production — become a smarter VR developer yourself : )
@augmentedcamel I don't rely on it at all and agree it's flaky.
I use the XR simulator from unity's XR interactions framework and also built mouse support that can do what controllers do. It works for core gameplay iteration and is a faster loop than quest link.
Do you really need link?
@augmentedcamel I've used sonnet for scaffolding out tests/code, and feature-level system design. I found it helpful to maintain a file that lists app/platform constraints and app background. For big features I maintain similar, separate, more focused files.
@tina__nigro @Heaney555@sxpstudio I'd agree if the XR future was many more immersive experiences. Apps having to be built like games is a barrier to entry for web companies.
The puck is going towards coexisting experiences with 2d panels and 3d objects living together. Game engine abstractions matter less there.
@Lunayian Quest 3's hardware is already pretty great. It's the software that needs improvement. Have you tried the AVP for a few weeks? The Q3 is amazing in comparison along many dimensions.
