7. At the end of the day its a long debated topic: Web vs Native. Centralized vs Distributed. Each has trade-offs, but XR needs WebXR as an alternative platform for accessing the metaverse.
... its also a fun topic to rant on.
Networking is difficult no matter the platform but more XR experiences should be web first. We believe the web browser is the ultimate window into the metaverse.
1. The web isn't owned by anyone (theoretically). There are no borders and it is designed to be freely traversed.
@DesktopVision@benz145 How can WebXR alleviate some of these netcode issues within a game, truly curious. Or you're saying if the game was completely running on the web already? (would that be any different than jumping into other big servers like VR Chat, Rec Room, etc.?)
If a monolithic platform has a networking issue, your device is basically useless (from a multiplayer standpoint). Single point of failure. Alternatively, there can be many WebXR networking solutions.
.@DesktopVision we're bringing computers into the Metaverse with simple to use APIs and SDKs
