No matter how you choose to connect with nature, we’re here to welcome you into the wild, wonderful outdoors. We’ve updated our logo to reinforce this belief with new landforms, fresh colors, and unified text.
Our previous logo was designed from a photo taken by Irv Murphy, a NW Region office engineer. The photo depicted Emerald Island in Lake Wenatchee State Park.
Dave McKim, who worked for our Lands Acquisition program, designed the linework for our previous logo from this photo.
At Washington State Parks, we believe our highest purpose is to make the outdoors joyful for everyone from the first time-visitor to the casual explorer, the expert adventurer and for generations yet to come.
How can you avoid the horrors depicted? Follow the seven @leavenotrace principles:
🤔Plan ahead and prepare
🥾Travel and camp on durable surfaces
🗑️Dispose of waste properly
🌻Leave what you find
🔥Minimize campfire impacts
🐻Respect wildlife
📻Be considerate of others
In October of 2021, three hikers disappeared in a place where #LeaveNoTrace principles were not followed.
A year later, their footage was found.
This is "The Leave No Trace Project."
It's not a phase, mom.
You can honor #NationalLeaveMeAloneDay by remembering to respect #wildlife in camp and on the trail. Give them space, not food scraps.
Emmanuel, don't do it, don't litter in your state parks!
Here's a tip to help keep our #publiclands beautiful: Carry an extra bag with you so you can easily collect and pack out your garbage when there's not a bin nearby.
