Here's my corny 2023 reflection: I'm thankful and grateful for all the amazing people I've met through streaming, twitter, and other mediums this year and who have helped me learn and ton and expose me to new ideas.
In no particular order, I'm thankful for:
- @leostera He is selflessly always there eager to help and teach others, going well above and beyond and always engaging with genuine kindness.
- @sabine_s_ She is the OCaml meme queen, and helping guide the ship to making OCaml more approachable to new folks
- @davesnx Literally the epitome of "Being the change you want to see in the world" and putting the ReasonML ecosystem in his backpack.
- @javierwchavarri Another champion of Melange/OCaml/ReasonML and helping show TS devs the light of better type systems
- @_anmonteiro The GADT father. Need I say more?
- @AvidHacker Thank you for taking a chance on me and hiring me, thus exposing me to OCaml for the first time.
- @zachbaylin One of the most brilliant young engineers I've ever had the opportunity to work with, thank you for always answering my noob OCaml questions.
- @Sixstring982 Literally a 10x engineer, and someone I have been able to learn a ton from over the past year. He has an uncanny ability to envision really well thought out APIs and abstractions and execute on them seamlessly while bring others along for the ride.
- @metameeee My streaming partner in crime. Thanks for being a great friend and colleague in this journey.
- @welltypedwitch & @TheEduardoRFS When I think about learning in public, I think of y'all. Two more folks who goes so far above in beyond in educational material/content. I love being wrong on twitter about FP/type theory stuffy b/c I generally get to learn something from you.
- @Nateemerson I admire your work ethic, tech takes, and genuine interest in others and helping to tell their stories.
- @WarrenInTheBuff Helping fight the good fight against RSCs and complexity in the TS world, one meme at a time.
- @teej_dv and @ThePrimeagen For being a huge source of inspiration in starting to stream and become more of an expert in the tools and tech I use.
- @badcop_ We share pretty similar senses of humor and views on things and may have the most entertaining twitch stream of all time.
- @yawaramin Another person who goes way above in beyond in helping folks learn OCaml.
- @cmgriffing Thank you for giving me a platform to help grow my channel and spread the good gospel of OCaml.
- @swlkr An OCaml developer in denial, with an okay, though slightly below average, sense of humor.
- @NightshadeDude Despite your repeated abuses of power, I appreciate you and the presence you bring to every twitch stream you're in.
- @rondDev, @DevAffax, @sixfourtwelve , @brattonross, @emil_priver, @standardrobot_ for being real homies and being a huge part of making our community and stream what it is.
- @justine_cgrove Of course none of this would have been possible without your support and love. I love you ๐ซถ
I'm sure I missed many, many more of y'all, but I appreciate everyone who has helped make this year what it was!
Onwards and upwards to 2024! ๐๐ซ
@greenzeta@dillon_mulroy This is more of a reminder to people that while he has his criticisms and observations about Typescript (mainly the type system), he still likes the language.
For some reason, many people get heated about programming languages, even if the writer likes said programming language.
Woops! Despite doing everything by the books and not using any escape hatches ('as', 'any', or 'non-null assertions') TypeScript let us give a normal 'member' admin permissions! ๐ฅ
@KenneyNL Your assets are fantastic, period. Even more incredibly public domain. You do deserve all the praise for them and giving more people tools to make games (like me, I'm a programmer by heart) is heartwarming.
@OakFrogii @xXcyorg13Xx@doctor4t_ It's actually not needed, as Quilt is a fork of Fabric. So on the day the project was created, they had all Fabric features. They've now improved Quilt past Fabric and it just takes modders a little effort to port mods (as a lot is the same).
