@miroyato@bkiepuszewski Polygon claims to be a L2, but if you look at the consensus protocol it's pretty much a L1. It might post some state roots to Ethereum but Ethereum L1 is not able to roll back Polygon (whereas it can roll back an optimistic rollup).
@bkiepuszewski I think you're missing a key piece -- is the rollup actually decentralized? Not much point of a rollup if we have to trust the sequencer (*ehem* Optimism).
@bkiepuszewski Good thread - but I think we already have a great solution in the works with 4844, and later on data availability sampling (danksharding).
Even today you can post calldata for 16 gas per byte. Optimistic rollups work.
