Lover of baseball and beer. Football and hockey, too, I suppose. Steve Cohen once trolled me about Dellin Betances, then took my advice and released him. 🫡
@LTorbin That’s fair. As a person who was born and raised in Jersey, it has just always annoyed me that both the Jets & Giants claim New York when both have played in NJ since before I was born. I was taking a shot at them more than anything
@metfan722@Rob_Z_31 To me putting stock in regular season results as an indicator of which way a playoff series might go is kinda of like expecting a batter to get a hit because he has good numbers against the pitcher in a small sample size against him.
Can’t see any reason to stretch Myers. He’s not good enough to be a shutdown 7 inning starter which is what you need.
You have plenty of guys who can give you like 4-5 mediocre innings with
Peralta
McLean
Tong
Scott
Manaea
Peterson
Senga coming back
And Wenninger on the cusp.
One thing to remember: Myers told me after the Holmes injury he thinks he would need to go to the minors to fully stretch back into starting range. Perhaps this gives them a chance to do that, though that’s just informed speculation
@Mike_Nelson17@Rob_Z_31 It depends on how, if at all, Olerud over Zeile changes their approach to roster building. Could say the same about Griffey trade that wasn’t. But we know the latter would’ve meant no Hampton. And watching Peralta ups & downs is a good reminder of how incredible 2000 Hampton was
Luisangel Acuna is making Jarred Kelenic look like an improvement in Chicago and the Mets still might lose the Luis Robert trade.
We’ll always have that first week of the season when it looked like Soto fixed him. Soto went down and Luis fell off a cliff and now off the map.
Carlos Mendoza provides updates on the injured Mets:
-Francisco Lindor has started running and doing baseball activities
-There's a "good chance" Jared Young will be activated tomorrow
-A.J. Minter will go through his throwing progression today, could be activated off of IL tomorrow or Wednesday
-No update on Luis Robert Jr.
-Jorge Polanco is going through a full workout today and will hopefully begin a rehab assignment this week
-Francisco Alvarez has resumed baseball activities and there's a chance he'll beat his 8-week timetable
-Kodai Senga is throwing a bullpen today and the goal is for him to make a rehab start on Thursday
I’m gonna preface this by saying I like Soto and I’m glad he’s a Met but it’s funny so.
Francisco Lindor: I broke my finger but I’m only gonna miss one game.
Juan Soto: Misses multiple games because
I’ll give him a chance but I’m getting a typical Mets lefty Peterson/Matz/Niese vibe from Thornton that I don’t love. Something about the way he keeps missing high and away to RHH
