I like metaphors and the Bible and bread.

The metaphors help her diagnose the problem, understand a person's emotions, and guide her to certain solutions.

I've learned recently how important metaphors are for cousneling.

For example, Tamara Rosier asks her clients for their personal metaphors for ADHD and says, "Once I understand how my clients are seeing their ADHD, we can begin to discuss ways to resolve the metaphor."

Gregory of Nyssa explained Jesus's victory against the Devil by comparing the Devil to a "ravenous fish" who "gulped down the hook of the Diety with the bait of the flesh."

Scholars say his view is wrong, but they're still talking about his metaphor 1,000 years later.

My wife said this is also how you clap at a stray dog in the country.

[Devin Moncada @DevinMoncada]

The Bible knows you can clap FOR someone (good) and that you can clap AT someone (bad).

Perhaps the author of Lam 2:15—"All who pass by
scornfully clap their hands at you (CSB)—had something like what's in this NBA clip in mind.

Love basketball metaphors. But we have to decide. Do you want to be ice cold or hot?

Steph is ice cold = bad
Clippers are red-hot = good
But....!
Lebron has ice in his veins = amazing
Adams from Sydney Kings is ice cold = good

Also🥶 is a reaction to something good?

I like how The NY Times recently combined a visual and linguistic metaphor of WAR. The language for the title is conventional. But, they highlight the metaphor by blending the Battleship game's peg board with the SAT answer paper. Brilliant.

Just finished a 3 year break. I'm back to post stuff about metaphors.

We added three new elders tonight @idcraleigh! Thankful to serve alongside pastor Matt for ten years, and thankful for our whole elder council; and to now have Akeloe Facey, @devinmoncada & @w_strickland join our pastoral team is a tremendous blessing.

I have any golf friends on here?

What’s the best way to buy clubs if you have none but want to start playing?

Buy a whole used set on Craigslist? Buy a few key clubs (new or used) and build over time?

Also, what is good?
Also, also, how do one golf?
