Saw a patient recently without housing who was in and out of hospital. But how could we keep calling them “hard to reach” or “lost to follow-up” when they didn’t have a cell phone? Peer workers in the Stabilization Centre/ER set up a phone for him and the next morning I got a call: “Doc, when am I seeing you for my visit.” We need compassionate health systems that bridge health and social care, but we really need housing for all.
