Tanzanian activist Mange Kimambi has appealed directly to U.S. President Donald Trump after Meta abruptly deleted her Instagram account followed by her news page wananchi forum and her WhatsApp broadcast platform.

Kimambi, who resides in the United States, says her pages were essential for reporting alleged human rights violations, election-related violence, and corruption during Tanzania’s recent polls, where President Samia Suluhu Hassan was officially declared victor with more than 98% of the vote.

She adds that fellow activist Maria Sarungi has also had her Instagram account taken down. Kimambi is now urging Trump to press Meta to restore the platforms and introduce stronger protections for dissenting voices, noting that millions of Tanzanians depend on these digital channels amid tightening media controls and government pressure.
