I wouldn't fancy wiring this connector up😱! Inside the Hirose connector of the 100 way #Quantel Dylan cable that connects your Quantel Editbox, Henry or Hal to it's Dylan disk array.
@lazygamereviews Here, have some #blinkenlights from my mid 1990s #Quantel HAL rendering some video effects. Hope you get your house back and fixed quickly after the tree invasion! Hang in there!❤️from Manchester, UK.
@Flyingh43892139@mrjeffknox 1983 is too early for a Paintbox to be used for something like this. At that time there was literally only a handful of them worldwide and cost $150,000 each. Only the big TV stations and post production houses had them.
@Flyingh43892139@mrjeffknox In all honesty, that is probably unlikely, but VFX existed a long time before CGI or even digital video. No Film or Video can be trusted not to have been altered just because of it's age.
Last night we managed to get my 5D Monster Masher working on my #Quantel HAL Express, now i have access to all the 5D and Sapphire plug-in effects for Quantel. The Masher itself is a Dual Pentium 2 WindowsNT 6U rack PC.
Recording a clip of uncompressed SDI video onto a #Quantel HAL and Dylan disk array from 1995 (with 20 @zuluscsi solid state disks). HAL was launched in 1993 and turned into a post-production tool for making moving TV graphics, compositing and effects throughout the 1990s.
Finally after months of work by myself and others we have managed to restore this #Quantel HAL back to working. The Dylan disk array now running with 20 ZuluSCSI disk emulators too. Videos on the story coming soon
@Bhaal_Spawn I would love for you to try drawing/painting on a Quantel Paintbox. There is Retrofest in Cambridge, i will be there. https://t.co/06UhWcvm6w
@IsItBroke Can you point to it? 🤣 Joking aside though, the data from 4 of these 20 scsi drives is getting lost somewhere. That results in the two diagonal lines on the image. The out of sync video is just me being lazy and not syncing the quantel to the camera.
