We commend President Trump for addressing the abuse of the H-1B system, where Indian immigrant workers are too often exploited for cheap labor by unscrupulous employers. Our concern, however, is for those who are already here, individuals who have built lives in the United States, purchased homes, paid taxes, and are raising children, many of whom are U.S. citizens. It is vital that this proclamation not be applied in a way that forces law-abiding, skilled immigrants and their families into deportation. We will continue working with the administration to ensure a path to permanent residence for these individuals, while also supporting reforms to prevent future abuses of the H-1B program.
Fedora moved to the US when she was just six years old on an H4 visa. She attended elementary, middle, and high school here. She is now a senior at NC State University and Duke University and faces self-deportation. To help those like her, please visit https://t.co/Ki9hDW90gE.
Indians can't get appointments to renew their visas. The US Embassy in India has been throttling Dropbox appointment slots for no apparent reason since at least 2020.
Indians working in the US are in a living nightmare now.
Every 3yrs on an H-1B visa, you need to go back home and get it renewed. For the last few months, there are ZERO days open for people to get their visa stamped.
They're jailed in the US, and can't leave to see family
The problems with the consular offices in India weren't caused by COVID then and they aren't caused by COVID now. Indians who have been working in the U.S. for years should be able to freely travel without waiting months (sometimes years) for a bureaucrat to approve things.
While we chose this path as adults, my heart breaks for the kids who've known no other home. At 21, their lives shatter overnight, forced to leave the only home they know.

"Documented Dreamers" end up self-deporting as there is no pathway for them to obtain PR. They are punished for their birth country just like their parents. Even if they get a work visa , they end up in a 200-year wait for PR where their parents are already in line. #immigration
USCIS feels the need to post this as they wasted 80k EB GCs in FY 2021. Then, they fought against the lawsuit to issue them. 80k EB applicants are still waiting. Many children may have aged out. All because of the agency's inefficiency, who works on applicants' fees. #Immigration
