காயத்ரி மந்திரம் சிவபிரானேயாவான்

சைவாகமக் கொள்கைப்படி சூரியன் சிவபெருமானே ஆகிறான். 'சவிதா' என்றால் சிவபிரானைக் குறிக்கும். சூரியனையும் குறிக்கும். மேலும் சூரியனைக் சைவாகமங்கள் "சஹசிவ சூர்ய மூர்த்தி" என்று கூறுகின்றன. சூரியவட்டத்துக்குள் நின்று ஒளியை உலகுக்கு அளிப்பவன் 'பர்க்கன்' எனப்படுகின்றான். 'பர்க்கன்' என்ற பெயர் சிவபிரானுக்கு உரிய திருநாமங்களில் ஒன்று "ஓம் ஹாம் பர்க்காய நம:" என்கிறது சிவாஷ்டோத்திரம்.

"எவன் எங்களுக்குள் இருந்து எங���களை இயங்கச் செய்கின்றானோ அவனை நாங்கள் உபாசிக்கின்றோம்" என்பது காயத்ரி மந்திரத்தின் பொருளாகும்.

தீமஹி தியோயோந: ப்ரசோதயாத்

ய: எவர், ந: நம்முடைய, திய: புத்தியை, ப்ரசோதயாத் : தூண்டுகின்றாரோ, தத் : அப்படிப்பட்ட, தேவஸ்ய : பிரகாசமுடைய உலகை உண்டாக்கி எங்களைச் செயல்படச் செய்கின்ற சூரியனுடைய, வரேண்யம் : மிக உந்நதமான, பர்க்க : ஒளியை, தீமஹி : தியானம் செய்கின்றோம்.

இங்கு சூரியனுடைய “பர்க்க" என்ற சொல்லால் குறிக்கப்படுகிற ஒளிரூபம் சிவபிரானே என்பதை அறிக.

ஆகவே, "காயத்ரி மந்திரத்தில் வழிபடக்கூடிய பரம்பொருள் சூரியனுக்குள் இருந்து அவனுக்கு ஒளிதந்து உலகை இயங்கச் செய்கின்ற சிவபிரானே" என்பது மேல்வரும் ஸ்லோகத்தால் விளக்கப்படுவது காண்க.

இதன் பொருள் : சிவசூரியனுடைய பராசக்தி ஒளியினால் படைக்கப்பட்ட ஆன்மாக்கள் தங்கள் உபாசனையில் சக்தியோடு சிவனையும் உணர்கின்றான். அதனால் அந்த உபாசகரின் பாசம் நீங்குகிறது என்பதாகும். இது சிவாகம வசனமாகும்.
