This man is a hero.
Captain Smit Machchhar, the Indian captain of flydubai Flight 1073, fought back after being stabbed in the cockpit.
Despite being severely injured, he managed to unlock the cockpit door - allowing Israeli passengers and the Emirati crew to intervene and save all the passengers.
Together, their extraordinary courage saved 174 lives.
Indian. Israeli. Emirati.
Different nationalities. One extraordinary act of courage. 🇮🇳🇮🇱🇦🇪
We wish Captain Machchhar a full and speedy recovery.

In 1705, an Irish woman named Margorie McCall fell gravely ill with a fever in Lurgan, Ireland. Believing she had died, her family hastily buried her to prevent the spread of contagion. Her husband, John McCall, a local physician, had been unable to remove her valuable ring because her finger was badly swollen — a detail that soon attracted the attention of grave robbers.
That same night, body snatchers dug up the fresh grave. Unable to pull the ring from her finger, they began cutting it off. The sudden flow of blood shocked the still-living Marjorie out of her deep coma. She sat upright in the coffin and screamed, terrifying the robbers, who fled and reportedly never returned to their grim trade.
Covered in dirt and still wearing her burial clothes, Marjorie climbed out of the grave and walked home. When she knocked on the door, her husband John, still in mourning, jokingly remarked that if his wife were alive, he would swear it was her at the door. Upon opening it and seeing Marjorie standing before him — alive, bleeding, and in her shroud — he collapsed from shock and died on the spot.
John McCall was later buried in the grave originally dug for his wife.
Marjorie survived the ordeal, eventually remarried, and had several children. When she died many years later, she was laid to rest in Shankill Cemetery in Lurgan. Her headstone famously reads:
“Lived Once, Buried Twice.”
Something extraordinary actually happened today.
Stuff so extraordinary, that even if it comes as a dream, you dismiss it as something that is impossibly improbable.
Thanks to your support and blessings, today I had the ultimate honor and privilege of having a conversation with our honorable Prime Minister on Mann Ki Baat about https://t.co/CIr1xkvilD
I still can't believe that he actually spoke to me, asked me about the website, its features and some questions on general history too. I am still in a daze.
For an amateur builder like me, i don't think there is a greater recognition or validation than this.
This conversation has given me enough motivation to take BharatRajya to the next level and make it the ideal history reference and visualization website for everyone.
Thank you @narendramodi ji, for encouraging people like us and inspiring us to achieve greater heights.
These is one conversation I will not forget in this lifetime. Or maybe even the next.
And rest assured sir, I won't let you down.

I still remember the quiz at Hindu College in mid-December 1974. The question was who was the only British PM to have been assassinated. Nandan and I were foxed. I took a wild guess and said Robert Peel. The answer was wrong and the other teams also didn’t know. The quiz master threw the question open to the audience. Prompt boomed in a shout from the back: Spencer Percival 1812.
The answer was right and it came from none other than Shashi Tharoor. Ram Guha was in the audience and we have shared memories of this quite often.
CPI (Maoist) ideology ignores India's federal democracy's success in states like Jharkhand post-2000. Violence down 73% since 2010. Ballots empowered Adivasis more than bullets ever could. #NaxalFreeIndia#NaxalFreeIndia
Success quantified. Civilian/SF deaths down 91% since 2010. Govt strategy blends ops with development – not just force, but holistic defeat of LWE. #NaxalFreeIndia
Integration metric. 11 districts left (down from 126). Roads & infra enabled admin reach, jobs, reducing alienation & insurgency. #NaxalFreeIndia
Claims of Adivasi “genocide” false; official & SATP data show 98% Kagaar casualties were armed Maoists. Example. Villagers in Sukma publicly thanked forces for clearing 200 landmines that once killed tribals. #NaxalFreeIndia
Development integration. 4,000+ km rural roads + 1,100 new telecom towers installed 2025-26 connected 650 villages to national grid – reducing seasonal migration by 22% and boosting local economy. #NaxalFreeIndia
Govt institutions trusted. Fortified police stations now host 45 health camps monthly across LWE zones; Adivasi participation in central schemes up 60%, per MHA report March 2026. #NaxalFreeIndia
SRE + Special Infrastructure Scheme infused ₹5,200 cr in 2025-26; coordinated ops across 7 states achieved 41% further violence drop in Q1 2026. #NaxalFreeIndia
