A Twitter account used to stop the shaming / stigma of those with #diabetes.
Promoting factual information.
No words barred.

Every so often, I get on and search for "diabetes". The top 3 to 10 replies under "latest" are almost always people making disparaging remarks about diabetes.
Sad part, that is nothing compared to the stigma we deal with in real life.
While I normally restrict this account to
diabetes posts, here is the one exception.
Don't vote for the orange piece of crap who will destroy our health care system. People with diabetes have enough to worry about.

Everyone hates time changes. When you're a person with diabetes, you hate it even more.
All your carefully planned day, your insuline algorithm, all gets thrown into chaos. All for the pain of an hour.
The struggle is real.
@Tim_Walz@KamalaHarris Today's positive diabetes message:
This is what needs to be done. Something all of us in the diabetes community have been advocating for.
Thank you for working towards a solution.
Any time you see someone say they've the secret to curing diabetes. Then, lock it behind some kind of pay wall. The answer is cinnamon or maybe Himalayan salt.
There, saved you some dollars.
Today is the first day of Diabetes Awareness Month!
The people that know don't need it.
The people that need it, don't know it.
The people that think they know won't listen.
The people that won't listen claim to know it all.
That about sums up diabetes knowledge.
@flylikeaneagle1@noahkaufmanmd@atrupar And you're wrong. Once type 2 diabetes is on your chart, it is always their. You will be checked for complications for the rest of your life.
I didn't deny anything, idiot.
Yes, i most definitely am. I know that hurts, but you already have problems with the truth.
@flylikeaneagle1@noahkaufmanmd@atrupar What does reversed mean? Nothing. You're controlling it. It's still there. Nobody is denying healthy food helps. Access to that food is a problem. Cost of that food is a problem. Education.
It's a complex issue you dumb fuck. I bet I'm in much better shape than you. Deal.

We're excited to introduce our new film, ‘What a cure feels like’, celebrating our transformation to Breakthrough T1D!
The film features real people affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D) and captures the relentless nature of living with T1D and the hundreds of extra decisions made each day.
We would like to say a special thank you to @tara_humphrey and her daughter Tahlia, @LisWarren, @joem_ and his partner Salman and @Jonpeach5 who shared their experiences and worked alongside us to create this film.
Together, let's raise awareness and inspire hope for a future without T1D💙

Something that often gets ignored about type 2 diabetes, even in my own posting, is the genetic factor.
Not everyone who is overweight instantly becomes a T2D. There is more to it than that. We need to stop stigmatizing diabetes and start understanding it's a complex problem.
@noahkaufmanmd@atrupar The problem with allowing half truths is people tend to believe the wrong parts. He is wrong and you shouldn't justify it by claiming he is part right.
People with diabetes already deal with enough stigma. As an MD you should know at least that much.
Also note that this is ONLY for type 2 diabetes. Type 1 reuires insulin for life. Period. There are even times when T1D will use other diabetes medications. Complex problems don't require simple minds.
Today's bad take on diabetes:
Diabetes can't be cured, it can only be controlled.
While a healthy diet is vital, drugs like Ozempic are often a first stag help to get people on the right track. Lifestyle changes take time, effort and money. It's never simply "eat right".
Some days here on Twitter / X - I see such stupid shit about diabetes that even I can't respond to it. Today is one of those days.
That's how stupid people are about diabetes when even I can't troll them for their stupidity.
