Exercise improves insulin sensitivity.
As a type 1 diabetic, I see in real time how a workout reduces my short term insulin requirements - often by around 20%, and the benefits last for days afterwards.
@mike_behr_ I try and do this first thing in the morning to get some early sunlight, let my body know it’s morning time!
Amazing how many new ideas pop up when walking outside with no distractions
Walking after you eat sounds almost too trivial to matter.
But a short walk after a meal can influence what happens to your blood glucose, how much insulin your body needs, how your muscles handle glucose and even how you feel later in the day 🚶♂️
@thegarybrecka Dealing with cravings is so crucial for maintaining a healthy weight (and, for type 1 diabetics like me, controlling blood glucose).
The 30 second pause is great, as is taking a short walk when you think you might be experiencing cravings
@glucosegoddesss As a type 1 diabetic I get to see this in real time through sensor data. Eating protein, fibre and fat first can keep blood glucose levels so much more stable!
Similarly, some veggies before the main meal are a cheat code!
@drjamesdinic It’s much more effective to control your environment than relying on discipline.
Example: to avoid late night snacking, either hide snacks at the back of your top shelf, or better, don’t have them at home.
The higher barrier to snacking reduces the need for willpower
